I went short at the bend of the 15m stoch. It's not the best entry but I was just being impatient.

Hello All,

I just started reading this thread yesterday and I have 2 questions. I read all of it but still can't figure out the following.

1. When we say the M5 Stoch. is 14,1,1 with Slowing 1. Isn't the slowing the same as the red 1 we have at the end in 14,1,1 , or is it something else? With other timeframes the Slowing is always 3, right 14,3,3

2. The K% is the red line in the standard Stoch. indicator in MT4, right? So we have to remove the blue line, correct?

Answer to question 1 - Yes

Answer to question 2 - Someone made a stochastic indicator which only shows the closed bars data which is handy because it can be confusing when on the standard stoch it waves up and down.

I've attached it at the bottom and the line to use for that one is the first one. In the indicator I think it has already set the line we don't need to black on the default settings.

As for the standard stoch I'm pretty sure the %K is the red line but I don't use it.

One more question if you don't mind. The thread started with the M5, M15, M30, 1H, and 4H system. Then we had the balls thing. Then we had the escalator to pips system. In addition, there is a PDF file somewhere here named 'spud_mtf_rules[1].pdf' which seems different as well..!

Are these different systems that apply to different pairs or are they the same systems with enhancements from one to the other? I am a bit confused here.

Yes it can seem a bit confusing at first -

Firstly the balls Spud just made as a visual for us to see the positions of the stochs more clearly thats not a new or different method - It was just for demonstration purposes.

Secondly the escalator to pips/ MTF rules is a different method but can be tied into this as well as it also uses MTF stochastics. All methods use the same settings on the stoch and all are applied to the 15m 30m 1hr and 4h charts - the predictive method which is what the main topic of this thread is about uses the 5m trigger.

The escalator to pips and MTF are just a couple of Spudfyers earlier threads

I guess knowing the escalator and MTF rules just allows you to ride trends for longer or stop you from entering a predictive trade if it is going against the grain of say an escalator to pips. (hope im making sense here.)

For example you might get into a trade using the Predictive method and it turns into an escalator to pips trade, being able to identify this is just an added bonus wher instead of grabbing 20 or 30 pips you might ride the escalator for maximum profits.


Anyway I think Spudfyer sums it up in this post:


"MTF Stochastics will make you a better trader and make this system perform much
better for you. You do not need MTF Stochastics to trade this method. You will though have more stops because of it and you will not enjoy all the gains long trends will offer. Over the long run, it should not impact your bottom line if you keep in the forefront of your mind that M5 must build M15 by not using MTF Stochastics. I'm going to spend some more time on explaining the mechanics rather..."

Answer: It is. However it gives us a more structured entry and exit. At best you use it to catch the trend reversals and then incorporate MTF strategies to stay in the trend.You can identify when a good/bad entry is and overall it increases the efficiency of the trade. Those with MTF Stochastics and Escalator To PIPS knowledge should find this method very profitable. I think without MTF STochastic skills this is still profitable but you will take a few lumps along the way...though I thik you can combine this with any system you like and still use the entry and exit points to your advantage.

There was an awesome move down this morning on eurusd. I hope everyone got a chance to get in on it. I'm out now since all the stochs are oversold and the 4hr is at the 20 line. I'll get back in if I can get a short trigger on the 5m and the others stay down. Other than that, I'll just wait for a long to setup.

I missed it. Seems to be my luck lately. Maybe there will be some good activity in the Asian session.
You seem to be doing well and now that Spud is back, this thread seems to be doing well also. I'll have to start visiting more frequently.

This may help ease your entries...this would be much easier if we had an indicator for it <hint>

Our M5 short trigger rings the bell. We wait for the M5 %K to close and fall below (cross down) the last closed M15 %K. Note on this chart the entry point and the last closed M15 stochastic level is to the left of our M5 close (i.e. it is lagging behind). The M15 stochastic level on the right of our entry will not form for another 5 mins...but or nect M5 will close below it anyway.

Exit options (in order of less risk to most risk): 10 PIPS, when we get a reverse M5 trigger, when we get a long signal, ride the M15 to 20%

If you don't want to use MTF Stochastics, use just the M5 and M15 trigger and crossovers to get you through. This is simple MTF Stochastics without having to think about MTF Stochastics.

As I take my second good escalator ride in two days (+79 pips yesterday, and plus 60 and still riding today) I feel compelled to say THANK YOU to the Spudmeister for taking the time to share his experience and wisdom on how to trade forex. Us Spudophiles are truly fortunate that you're altruistic enough to give us all the time you do so that we can make money. I've tried a few different systems and even mentorship, but Spud....You Da Man!!!!! Seriously, thanks so much. You've made trading forex profitably possible for me. (and the new 5m system make entry painless and about as risk free as it gets!)

I've never seen indicators used so effectively it really is magic what Spudfyer has shown us. I was recently told to believe indicators are the "devil" but I'm now a believer again.
