As I have said numerous times round here when I started with them everything was ok! i don't scalp but i do trade 15 min charts going for 20+ pips (depending on what the market is offering)

iI had good execution or so i thought but then trades were taking 2 + minutes to go through the system but most of the time getting a time out error!!

Now this was during all types of markets, fast, slow, stand still no matter what the market was like it was taking forever to get a trade through. I explicitly told them I am not a scalper but sometimes I will close a position prematurely if need be they said no problem any trading style is welcome so I am rather surprised to learn now they don't like scalpers.

Anyway I have moved on to Ig index and in comparison its like an ECN setup. my trades go through instantly, trades closed instantly and I can't beleive I wasted 3 years on jokers like cms forex and alpari.

Really guys don't f**in bother with these FX newbie brokers.

regards cms i agree with you, i wasted 5 years and a lot of money with these suckers.. But what you said about alpari is nonsense, trading with them since 2.2008 i never had such problems even making profit day in day out with automatic system on 5 Min chart. Even up to 20 open positions closed in less than 2 seconds! Set up your platform on hosted virtual server(mine is in USA) and you will no longer see execution problems.

My demo account with Alpari(UK) has just started saying "no connection". -Maybe I had it for too long?
Similar thing with my FXLite account.

If you trade with a market maker (bucket shop???), do u use their price data or get your price data from another provider where conflict of interest is less likely to arise?

Alnames, In Tax Law (I am being general):
Capital Gains result from the appreciation of a Capital Asset. For example, Ford buys a factory, uses it for 10 years and then sells it.
Income results from going to work or running a business. For example, your receive a salary from your job.

In Australia, high frequency trading would be Income and not Capital. (ask me if you want me to elaborate)

In some jurisdictions, Capital Gains are not taxed. Sometimes even if Capital Gains are taxed, there may be more tax breaks available for Capital Gains Tax. Hence, many entities have tried to classify cash inflows as Capital, it's not just a trading thing.

I think it might have been caused by system maintenance on their demo servers.

There was an earlier announcement about this on my mailbox.
I dance with chance.

Hi Guys,
Just wondered if any experienced traders using alpari can tell me whether the demo account is the same as the live account in terms of slippage , speed of execution and server failure etc. One day I hope to go live and want to be aware of any hidden dangers so I can adapt strategies to suit etc.

Thankyou Jason

Can't help I'm afraid as my demo account has ended through lack of use... ie I only trade on my live Alpari account. That should be enough to show that I have no probs with them.

I have been slipped 3 times since trading live and I have a position open about 60% of the time. Fills can be slow - up to 30 seconds when either buying at market price or placing an order. Not sure why as there may be no news at all.

thanks for the response shadow.
im trading gbp/yen and i need better execution than 30 seconds, the beast can move 50 points in 30 seconds and that will not suit my trading plan. The demo i'm using is almost instantaneous with very few requotes? This tells me that they are obviously very different!

I've traded FXDD for a year and a half, and now I'm with Alpari for almost a year. FXDD = one of the worst, Alpari = one of the best. (of course, FXDD might have changed recently, I don't know).

Could you tell us why you see alpari better than some other?

Could we get some feedback about the execution times? And how are spreds today? I understood they expanded their spreads lately due high volatily conditions. Are they alreaydy normal?

Best Regards

Hi all

I wonder if someone could help me.

I am demoing with an Alpari account, I have had no issues thus far however since trying out an EA yesterday, the whole thing seems to freeze and go very very slow. I have taken the EA out, however its still going slow.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Pros:
1. Data feed reflects pretty much what non-bucket-shop brokers show, crazy spikes are very rare to non-existent.
2. Connection is stable most of the time.
3. Leverage of 1:500 is available. Not really needed, but nice to have.
4. Small minimum depo and micro lots - good for beginning traders.
5. No anti-scalping policies.
6. Spreads are very decent.
7. Spreads are amazingly constant. Even during news times, the spreads remain the same. This is the most important part for me, as I prefer to pay more but to know for shure that a long will be opened and a short will closed exactly at the level I set. Even when, a week or so ago, all spreads of all brokers widened to insane extent, Alpari kept theirs within a decent range (this was the only occurence that I saw their spreads widen).
8. Requotes, if happen, can happen so that you earn more. Following gaps, orders are honestly filled in at the first availbale price, which for me meant quite a few times nice gains.
9. Customer service is almost never needed, but when it is, works very fast.
10. Withdrawals are fast.
11. London based and regulated by British authorities.
12. Their historical charts go back quite far (e.g., 40 months of M5 charts).

Cons:
1. Market orders are often executed pretty slowly (3 sec and even more).
2. They charge margin for both opposite positions in same pair.
3. They are going to introduce price quotes with 5 (or 3 for Yen crosses) decimal places, which makes fast trading extremely uncomfortable. I hope they will change their mind.
sans peur et sans reproche
