Terms And Conditions:
The 10% “credit bonus” is a non-withdrawable credit for net deposits made between November 17th 2008 and January 10th. The total amount of deposits made into your trading account will be netted off with the total amount of withdrawals made by you over the period, and the “credit bonus” will apply to the balance (see example). There is a USD$2000 (currency equivalent) maximum “credit bonus” for each account held with Alpari. The “credit bonus” will be withdrawable from the 31st January after 100 standard lot round turn transactions have been placed by you on your account. These transactions must be made by you from the time of the first credit, until 31 January 2009. You will be unable to withdraw the “credit bonus” as liquid funds if you have not made the necessary 100 standard lot round turn transactions. If you do not make the required number of 100 standard lot round turn transactions during the period then the “credit bonus” will be removed.
Example: 1)You deposit $5000 on the 19th November and we give you “credit bonus” of $500. 2)You withdraw $2000 on the 25th November and we reduce your “credit bonus” by $200. 3)You deposit $5000 on the 17th December and we give you “credit bonus” of $500. 4)If you meet 100 standard lot round turn transactions between the 19th November and the 31st January you will be able to withdraw $800 of “credit bonus”. Otherwise “credit bonus” will be removed.
* Restrictions apply, please read Terms and Conditions

I hate the 5 decimals but that is probably what is causing your requotes. The price changes so much quicker so you will need to change your deviation settings under Tools/Options.

True about the spreads. The 5 decimals was supposed to give better spreads (1/2 pip) but if anything they are worse. The only reason I stay with them is they are UK based and no annoying Sunday bar.

You can try e-mailing them but they won't give a shit

Thi is the replay I have recevied from Alpari:

If you receive an “Invalid price” please ensure that you are entering a price which is to the correct decimal place, is within our spread and if you are placing a pending order please ensure that you place it correctly above or below the bid / ask price depending on the type of order you are placing. (maybe they consider me an idiot?).

For more information regarding our current spreads please go to http://www.alpari.co.uk/en/company-news/232.html

We are looking in to offering floating spreads by the end of January. An announcement will be made regarding this via internal email on the MT4 platform.

Offering floating spreads means that our spreads will follow the spreads the major banks are offering, by taking the best bid and offer from a large number of price feeds from major banks. This will enable us to ensure that our spreads are reduced during the intra-day trading, but may widen overnight as major banks tend to widen their spreads during this time. Our spreads will still remain more competitive than the major banks throughout the day.

Our spreads may widen over the release of major economic data.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Is it maybe a joke?

I think that they have not even understand my questions.

But my money are real!!!
FURIOUS!!!

Thank you for sharing this, Lubo. For me, Alpari is a decent broker in all respects, but the main reason I'm with them has been their fair AND fixed spreads. The moment their spreads start floating, why should Alpari be preferred over, say, MBT (after MBT start running MT4) or a couple of other reliable MT4 brokers with non-fixed spread?

Hi Ilnar,
I think we have to waiting next month to see how change Alpari Spreads, however I don't think their spreads will floating like on MBT and in any case Alpari does not have commission.

Not a very nice start with them.
This is my little story :

Opened an account in EUR last year with Alpari UK but I never funded it until this week when I sent a bank wire (also in EUR since I'm in Italy and I get euro), today they sent me the email that sum was accrued in my trading account and...big surprise..sum is displayed in USD , so the account currency was switched from EUR to USD without any prior notice to me. Incredible !
Now I'm waiting a reply for customer support where I asked to switch immediatly my account to eur again otherwise I'll withdraw everything and move on..

Another thing very annoying is that they don't have a text chat support like IBFX or other broker.

Did you specify that you wanted the trading account currency as EUR's in your account?

https://www.alpari.co.uk/en/live-account/personal/1/

There are enough reasons to complain about brokers without making them up or blaming them for your own incompetence.

Of course Birdt, when I opened the account it was in EUR (I also checked with a simple script directly in the platform using function AccountCurrency()). I have also the email that they sent to me at that time with login/password details where it's clearly indicated that account was opened in EUR so it's amazing me that they deliberately switched account currency to usd after received bank wire in euro.

Edit :
This is the email received from them on activation account on past 23 Oct 2008 :

Well, looks like you have a cast iron case, I apologise for implying otherwise. It does strike me as remarkable that they would mess up a straight-forward issue like that.

On the plus side, EUR is getting a hiding from USD today so maybe they've done you a favour. A broker that I use only allows deposits in USD - I was a bit annoyed I could not get an account in GBP. I am not that annoyed now 60 cents has fallen off it.

Hi,
I was so surprise when i saw this post, because i can't say this is a mistake or what? If it's a mistake that is very bad of Alpari and i'm highly disappionted in their customer service.

Please don't take it easy with them, infact, i'm highly interested in this case.

Kindly, post any development about this case, we should'nt allow these broker(s) to rob us in any form.

Let us first believe that it's a mistake and it will be rectify as soon as possible but if there's no changes, please quickly post your complain in this site so that we can fight them together. By the way, this Broker is what i'm using right now.
I always monitor or looking forward to see anybody posting complain against them so that i can know the way to handle them.

No apologies birdt
yes indeed it's a strange behaviour on their side, maybe it's only a minor issue and they will revert back soon ...at least this is what I hope
I guess if you have gbp currency it's in your interest to have the account in GBP rather than in USD , otherwise you have to convert twice your GBP money once when you deposit and once when you withdraw , paying for extra fee in both cases.
Btw if it could be of some interest for you , they also offer account in GBP ( http://www.alpari.co.uk/en/services/...urrencies.html ) , what we have to check is if this is the true or only smoke in the eyes

Cheers,
Skyline

Hi,...

FxRefere I shorted a little bit the whole story because thought it was of little interest. Here's briefly the complete story :

- Opened account with my name on 23 Oct 2008 ( I never sent money on the account and the account was opened in EUR)
- Starting with new year a friend of mine asked me to trade togheter so I thought to switch this account to a joint account so that both names appeared in the account and we can fund it separately from our related bank.
- I asked Alpari to let me know how to switch this account to a joint account , they told me that my friend had to sent all documents by 'PERSONAL Application Form'. Of course I said them that we want to switch my already existant account to a joint account.
- They accepted the document from my friend but......opened a new account to him LOL
- I replied asking kindly again to switch my account to a joint account not creating a new one for my friend.
- Finally they switched my account to a joint account, so that both names appear in the account.
- The rest is what I already told before, so that I sent my bank wire and they switched the account in usd. (my friend also sent money from his bank but aren't accrued yet).

Anyone here wants to bet that they will switch my account to eur and after money from my friend will be received they switch back it to usd ?? LOL

Btw don't worry I'll update here on further news about this funny broker-story

After 3 email sent to Alpari without any reply I decided to call them by phone. The guy was gentle and apologised for the matter occurred and in a couple of minutes my account was switched to EUR.
Now I'm happy again

Scalping with alpari it's impossible.
I get always requotes up 5-6 times to open or close position.
This happens even with 5 micropips deviation, and also when there aren't much volatility at least 2 requotes to close position.
And that's not all, i think that with 5 digit allow they to move price so quickly up and down that makes you confused.

I'm truly disappointed.

Lubo.
