All eyes will be on the up coming FOMC interest rate decision. Most economists forecast this as unchanged but with the bankruptcy of Lehman brothers and the tight rope AIG is walking spectators are leaning towards a cut. Monday we saw the chance for a rate hike in September trade as high as .92% from a Friday low of 12%. We now have Merrill Lynch calling for a cut of .50%. One thing is for sure we will see a lot of volatility in the markets after t
Trading tip: A cut for the US should give the dollar short term weakness but give a positive outlook for equities. I am looking for Yen strength in the first few minutes followed by carry trade rallies 5 minutes or so after release. A cut should help risk appetite and move the DOW onto more solid ground. USD/JPY, AUD/JPY, EUR/JPY and GBP/JPY should be good buys if we get a cut.
