Hurricane threat to Gulf energy hub rattles US economy

With the US oil-refining industry heavily concentrated along the northern Gulf of Mexico coastline, a strategic sector of the economy is perennially vulnerable to the threat of hurricanes.
While America's ageing refineries have improved their storm defenses, "virtually all" oil production in the Gulf was "shut in," or turned off, a US Department of Energy official said Monday.
The Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) also reported that 82 percent of natural gas production was shut in, said Kevin Kolever, assistant secretary for electricity delivery and energy reliability.
"Nearly every location has electrical generators," he said.
But, he said, "the fact is, so much of the refining capacity is on the Gulf coast. And when you get a category four or five hurricane, there are still significant risks.""(But) a little known fact: refineries actually lose money when oil prices rise. In that way, refineries really have an inverse relationship with oil prices."

i am still weathering my "storm" .. holding out on my long @ 1.4620

now that it is 40 pips down, it is a tropical storm category

heh

i just remembered oolide was holding out a long at the 1.47 range.. i hope he got out of it.. else that is " day after tomorrow"

how are you doing.still holding my longs and hoping for a retrace sometimes later this year.ow has trading been.just woke to see if i cam get some pips of the aussie.

me too , long at 1.4633 & changed the sl , I am not ready to take those huge loss & will continue as far as possible . no trade before they cleared anyway & hence to come to see what progress at this time of 5am .

Looks like we have the strong possibility of a double bottom on the 4hr chart.
Might be a nice bounce in the next couple days.

Or could only be the continuation to 4350-20 area that is the 38% fib from the last high and lowest low....

Just playing with the charts again....should go to bed and let it rest till tomorrow and play what is actually happening...

A sense of normalcy seems to have returned to the markets, finally eur/usd going up while usd/jpy going somewhat down. On closer inspection eur/usd has been in a downwards channel ever since yesterdays high at 1.4715(you plot the lines cant upload). Todays low briefly broke the bottom trendline of the downwards channel but quickly came back within the channel. Now if 1.4600 can get broken we might see a movement to the upper wall of this downtrend which is around 1.4660momentarily. This analysis is done from a purely panoramic view, use your indicators to get exact values. Plus, i am a noobie, I may be talking nonsense
