Oil turning up, us stock indices going red.. Time for me to cover shorts.

Could the downtrend be over for today according to the chart? Who knows - time will tell.

Might be but this is where I noticed it, I have been watching QMV8 without chart so I can't be sure.

These are still premarket hours so the main thing is what the market says at the open.

The trend (technicals) was down. The news (fundamentals) did nothing to change that.

I was trading the 100 pip too, playing along with the h&s and newforecast.

This is such a common statement. When Asia is open they buy Yen, When EUZone is open they buy Euros etc etc. How about when the US markets open they sell dollars. It can happen. Not everyone goes long their own currency and never ever short it.

BTW the dollar like every other currency is traded 24/7. Here is 15m overnight chart. I like :

While EUR just got hit bad, there are bad news coming for $ as well.
It will be evident that oil will explode within few days if/when Hurricane Gustav reaches gulf estimated as gategory 3 level hurricane. Oil rigs will be shutdown.

Well we had clear H/S on H1 with decisive neckline break during news. The doji that formed in the last hour marked the 161,8 projection from the 50% retracement on the previous downtrend. And now we are seeing a little bounce here off that 161,8/close to daily S3. Certainly not much else to back long position

I have live data and it is @ $114.30 right now and a while ago it was $115.50

Sure I have live data too, I have a position in oil. IB just doesn't have charts for offmarket hours (or they have and I just don't know how to display them)

edit: now I feel stupid, there is a checkbox for showing them and I haven't just noticed it even though I have traded with them a long time..

Only if it was that easy. U know, just shooting down in one direction without any retrace. However do I agree that overall we are in downtrend.

I have IB too but only for execution. Don't use their charts so can't help there. Now it has rebounded a little, as you know. Here is a 5min pic of overnight to give you an idea how it traded:
