Also, i checked out that link on your charts. Is that your site? I don't understand a word of it, but your written language sure is beautiful....

Just found this thread.. any more recent examples?

I just came across this thread. I've used candles for years. In the early days I had to learn as I went along (nothing like paying for misreading a candle pattern to get your attention.) This thread does a good job of explaining the patterns.

good thread, my kind of trading. here's a little tip:

Unusually long wicks are often good signals that a trend is ending.

By that, I mean a long wick shooting way up bullish often signals the end of an uptrend, and a long wick dropping down often signals the end of a downtrend. and they don't have to be a doji or a spinning top.

good examples are as good as new ones. I learned candlsticks from a book that was writen in '90. it had examples only from that period, and now i trade only with candlestick and fibonacci

You guys can remember all these formations or do you use any software?

If you do a quick google you should come up with dozens of helpful links with explanaitions/examples of the candle formations. . . and this has been mentioned before, if you wish to invest in a nice hardback book get "Beyond Candlesticks"... a search at Amazon or Barns and Nobel should do the trick. Author is Steve Nison. . . i go to it often, though after a couple years all this stuff really starts becoming part of you . . . if you want it to! It's my life so i'm studying the charts hours a day and loving it. <<< OK i don't "have a life", but i'm looking at trading right now the same as i would a four year college degree, study hard, and then go back to my girlfriend's dorm room and play hard....(now i've got her as my wife.grin)

One important thing to remember about candlestick formation is that it is indeed more important WHERE in the chart they occur than the actual formation in itself. I mean, a hammer or a morning star right off a confluence of support (let's say a fib retracement + a previous resistance level turned now support) has a much stronger chances than a morning star in the middle of nowhere.

So, in my opinion, searching for candlestick formation without drawing levels of possible support/resistance is futile.

Another point: price targets. How do you guys go about price targeting when it comes to candlestick trading? what does the "theory book" say?

for me iam using my own system alerting me when i have the reverse candle seen but not depend on it only.
