oanda did not restore any of my trades when i called them and they stop-lossed my ass many times

The question is: Were there wrong spikes? Or maybe spread widening during news?

Did it ever occur to you to buy on Oanda's "stop hunting prices" and then sell when the market returned to normal, assuming of course that the spread was 3 pips as is shown above and not 50 pips.

You could of locked in a nice 40 pips profit risk free

Nice idea but unfortunately they're not stupid enough to leave themselves open to such risks, the 'move' was for their benefit only.

Well I gave mine:

1st: It was a misspike and there would had been a rollback.
2nd: It was a time delay due to lagging servers (at Oanda this happens sometimes, but then all quotes are delayed on client(!) side). In that case you won't see the real prices but all trades would be executed correctly.

There is no error free world. Just try to send a complaint to the NFA. You will be surpised how less complaints do exist about Oanda and how many about any other MT4 bucketshop.

It was hardly a 'misspike', there were several quotes for Eur/Usd over that 10 seconds (and on other pairs where there were significant price discrepancies), they can't all have been bad ticks. Oanda stand by those quotes and have not reversed any trades.

It can't have been latency either, just compare prices in the video clip. No other marketmaker streamed quotes anywhere near Oanda's during that 10 seconds, the market never traded at those prices, period. Oanda quite obviously moved price to suit their book and in my opinion that's dishonest. You're right in one respect though, Oanda would never have filled a Buy market order at those prices that's for sure, they ain't stupid enough to give money away but they are perfectly happy taking yours!

There would be no point in complaining to anyone, Oanda have the right to be dishonest and quote any price which suits them, and quite obviously they do just that!

You have absolute no idea about this stuff. The left broker is CMC Markets, I have used them for many years. What is visible in this video is absoultely normal, because the price movements i.E. during News are different at both brokers. This is because they have different price feeds, and expecially the feed of CMC lags alot during news times. But this has nothing to do with Oanda at all, you can compare ANY other broker to CMC and you will come to the same result.

Please also note that both brokers, Oanda and CMC are Market Makers so they can theoretically display any price they want to. Also note that at CMC, you can't open orders during news time at all - they simply turn off this at news times.

It is ridiculous to say that Oanda, generally and especially based on this video, does stop hunting.

lol, I'm just amazed at some of your replies, come on guys some of them simply don't make very much sense. It's no wonder Oanda can get away with this stuff with impunity!

Trader121 you say it's all absolutely normal "because price movements are different at both brokers" because they have different price feeds (by the way there are 3 MM's quote panels on that video). I agree they may differ by a few pips here and there but not 44 pips, there is such a thing as the underlying market you know!

You say CMC's prices lag a lot and that's also the reason for the price difference. But CMC never quoted 1.5655, the price did not exist in the market, Oanda were the only marketmaker who quoted those prices so how can CMC lag Oanda's quotes at that time, that doesn't make sense. Eur/Usd quotes on Oanda went from 94 to 54 for 10 seconds and then back to 94. lol, it was blatant price manipulation and I'm really surprised you can't see it, it's just so obvious. The question is why would they do that if not for their own benefit?

I've already said before they are within their rights to quote what they want, fill what they want, and reverse what they want. However, most marketmakers have integrity and usually stay within a few pips of the underlying market for obvious reasons, but not Oanda it seems. And who can blame them when even their own clients don't seem to notice anything is wrong, it must be like candy from a baby!

By the way I also trade with CMC Markets (UK) and have done for a number of years. CMC will requote if a price is no longer available and the trader has the choice whether to accept the requote or not, it's the fairest way in my opinion and better than being filled with slippage and without a choice, or even worse being filled and having trades reversed later. I have never had any problem getting orders filled across data, not even a volatile NFP release (although it can take a few seconds!)

You claim to have change broker and satisfied with it, yet only you who, instead of trading happily with your new and satisfying broker, keep harrassing Oanda on every chance you got.

You claim to have contacted Oanda and that Oanda stood by their quote, but in other thread---unrelated at all with Oanda---you change my words and admitted it, yet keep acting like it was my words and have the right to scolded me for it.

Whether you like it or not, Oanda still have the biggest capital among all MM in the world. Far exceeding your satisfying current broker.

i am sure that you dont have a real forex account ,thats what i will say
oanda hunts stops yes and some times manipulate prices yes and you know what they delay there news feed .and if you loss your balance they never bother providing you with the news.
they have a big capital yes because they have other bussiness befor forex for about 20 years i think it is global transactions and having a balance is not the issue ,refco had equity more than oanda and end broken with people money.
and by the way did you heard about man finicaial i think your forex information is weak ,man finicial have about 42 billlion dollars in capital ,oanda only 160 million hahhah also hot spot it was bougth by knigth capital group that have about 20 billion in capital .
so please dont say blah blah ,go open an account with oanda and try for your self in case they are not paying you to advertise hahahahh

I see what any other trader would see, quote manipulation, plain and simple. I would of thought it was obvious to even the most challenged inexperienced novice but evidently not. If it wasn't quote manipulation then please explain the quote discrepancy, no-one else has been able to so far.

Why is Oanda the 'bad' one between the 3 shown? Well as I've already explained many times before, the market never traded at the quotes Oanda displayed. No other marketmaker quoted the prices Oanda quoted, not one.

My gains or losses aren't relevant to the thread.

Instead of questioning me I think you probably need to question your own understanding of the implications of trading with a dishonest marketmaker who shifts quotes to suit their order book.

I'm extending you a certain amount of latitude here because you're new to the business but you really need to be alert and aware of who you're trading with in this market, some bucketshops are far from honest. The other supposedly 'experienced' traders have no excuse for their ignorance of such underhand marketmaker tactics. Pretending it doesn't exist will not make it go away!

I was watching the euro 1m chart live during those news. While I didn't compare it to other feeds I did not see a spike of 30 pips back and forth as in that video. Like someone mentioned here it's possible that those were feeds from different brokers.

Was that an Oanda 1m chart or another MM you were watching?

The 'move' only happened on Oanda, no other marketmaker quoted those prices at that time, and according to Reuters and Bloomberg data the market never traded anywhere near those prices either. Oanda however say they were valid quotes and stand by them. There's definitely something wrong with that picture!

Spikes on a bad tick do happen every now and then on most platforms but very infrequently, for Oanda it's more or less become a regular occurrence. They reverse (roll back/bust) trades at will, it's a ridiculous set-up that very few professional traders would find acceptable. A .9 pip spread on Eur/Usd and receiving interest on account balances is all very attractive and a great sales pitch to pull in the punters, but it's not such an attractive deal if these types of issues are the hidden price you have to pay.

It seems the majority of Oanda's clients have a kind of blind-faith (or ignorance?). When issues like this arise they defend their beloved marketmaker without any logic or reasoning. A sensible trader would see the quote discrepancies and want to know why they happened, even if this particular event hadn't affected them it brings into question Oanda's integrity, if they can blatantly shift quotes like that then what else are they prepared to do.

Fortunately for Oanda they have some very 'understanding' and loyal clients!

It's a shame because not that long ago Oanda were still a decent company to trade with, I had traded with them quite happily for a number of years. Then came a series of typical bucketshop 'tricks' (some of which are more or less extinct now on most platforms, traders got wise!), disconnects across data, slow quotes, price and platform freezes, mystery spikes, some ridiculously wide spreads, and ultimately inexplicable pricing disparity.

One of Oanda's main benefits is flexible lot sizing right down to 1 unit which is ideal for new traders just starting out as they can apply sensible money management even with very limited equity, unfortunately with this type of manipulation Oanda have turned into the rogue bucketshop from hell, the negatives far outweigh the positives!

QANDA has to hit stop loss only and only by real market(normal) even they widen spreads with news
