I don't normally trade the Asian session but I'm testing this stuff during the Asian session on the Oanda game platform just to see if low volume, etc. will cause this trade to go belly up.

This may sound like a dumb question but on the FFCal_v05a indicator, it constantly shows the "4380 days"..I should ignore that part of the label, correct?

Just a note that I posted on a different thread but that should have gone here:

I've been playing around with the stoch settings for MTF. I use daily, 4 hr, 1 hr and 15 min.

Using the sexy stoch approach with three lines on one chart I find that (15,x,12) better mirrors the (5,x,3) on the next higher time frame. (I never use %D).

I also use (20,x,12) to give some sense of momentum on the slower stochs.

I found the original settings gave too many conflicting signals, and now I can use a mixture of spuds "escalator" strategy together with the sexy stochs patterns.

It's not perfect (I'm still playing to get a best fit), but it serves to give great correspodence between my four charts.

Here's a pic. [edit: changed pic 14:41 3/4/08] Note the perfect sexy-stoch short entries. I'm still working on only taking the best AAA+++ entries.

Just for clarification, ur charts show 20,x,25 but you list 20,x,12. Typo maybe?

I have a question for EVERYONE actually I always hear to check the 15m/1hr/4hr..why does no one ever really mention the 30min chart in all of this? Is this just some method of forex trading where the 30min chart is really not looked at for some reason? just curious.

well it failed as an idea in the past. i personally dont really like em and id rather do this 1 on 1 for a day or 2 for each person that way theyl really get the hang of it

a clear gbpusd 4h. doesnt mean itl work but it has a good chance of working.

20 stoch getting out of oversold area trending up. 5 pulled back about to turn around and go up
if the current bar closes above the previous bar, its a good indication that itl work

Hmm as far as I'm concerned this is THE definitive method! I had a 20pip loss this morning on GBP/JPY trading off the 15min chart. As I analyzed the trade later and this thread, I realized that I was trading against the 4hr trend. The 1hr was in step with the 4hr but just that the 15m was opposite. Now I've been testing taking trades off the 15m that are in line with the 4hr trend and it's working. Even if the 1hr is flat or undecided, it's still working. Lesson learned eh? Just one more thing I've learned this morning to make me more successful at this. I take every loss as a learning experience expecting one day to be as proficient as you guys. Therefore I'm far from deterred when I see a -10pip...don't wanna see too many of those though

3 different timeframes, 3 different signals. Do we sit and wait for the 4hr to come up more and then the 15m to follow? Boxing, how would you proceed on this one? See how the 15m is already trending up and will soon be in synch with the 4hr? That's the part I'm struggling with understanding. And I see by your last post you dropped the 50stoch. Hmm..what's up with that?

I read the whole thread few months ago and it was definitly worth every second (despite angry girlfriend ) This was the easiest method to understand AND very powerful. The first method for me to get far more winners than losers ! I´m still playing on demo ( since 6 months know ) but about to go live ! I just hope things will still turn out as great as on demo.
almost every demo-account has been doubled in a month or so !

The tricky thing will be to deal with the temporary drawdown when getting in too early. On demo this is not a problem

But i feel very comfortable with this system! It´s almost as if there was nothing to worry about !

I also know spud´s stuff with is very useful too. But sexy stochs is much more comfortable !!!

I was a devoted follower of the Spud system before I came across this. This system fits like a glove..a whole lot less stress. I just have to work on the nuances and waiting on the setups to come to me. But I have to say this thing possesses deadly accuracy. I haven't found myself in bad drawdowns since going live a day or so ago. Maybe that's because I'm going in on the 15min charts. I'm going to be moving up to the 1hr/4hr charts so I expect some drawdown there. Good luck..and hey, move to live trading even if it's .01c a pip. Gotta test those emotions in the live setting ya know. My wife wasn't too upset with how much time I spend reading this thread because she's looking at a new car and all that when I get proficient . I kid you not when I say I spend at least 10hrs a day glued to this thread and Metatrader charts. I can actually feel myself pretty much recognizing patterns, etc.

Boxing, I placed a trade on that GBP/USD when the 5 turned around on the 15min chart and was in the same direction of the 4hr. I'm currently +18.

Edit..now it took a little dip down to +8 and now back up: +38

WOW!! 10hrs !! not bad If i had that time i guess i would spend it here too.
But I got a dayjob so that´s not possible. Maybe i will quit it if things are going right ! I also traded from 15min charts and was successful most of the time. Looking back on charts 4hr signals seem pretty nice. But i think it´s easier to see past moves then recognizing on starting. especially on langer timeframes price can go against us allthough the stochs have crossed.

I think it might be nice to look for 4hr/1hr to agree and then enter on 15min ?

a bit like spud´s elevator. The signals of this system work on every timeframe from 5 min to weekly. That´s scaring .

if i see a setup on the 4h i take it
if its not so clear but theres an uptrend developing on teh 4h, i go to the 1h and take the opportunity there.

like in my example, if the 5 was above 80 while the 20 is pulling up that means theres an uptrend developing but no setup on the 4h. i go down to the 1h and take the trade there

Got it. But here's another question for you. Going off the 4hr, don't you subject yourself to massive drawdowns that way? That's what keeps me from the 4hr chart. I know that on the 15min charts, my chances of going into that situation are relatively slim. The 4hr is tempting though because you can pull some pretty good pips like that. With the 15min, it's in and out, in and out. I have plenty of time during the day to watch the charts and trade. In fact, I can trade all day most days so I'm trying to get my pattern together. By the way, does next Friday work for you?
