What am I missing that is going to give the dollar that much strength? I think it's going to be a fun time getting past 1.5800, but we'll see what happens when we get there.

Still not a solid break above 850 unlees you are looking at less then 1hr time frame. Just a little spike. Nice to see you guys making some pips off the move though.

Its spring time. People have to spend more money in the spring. Kids out grew last years clothes, lawn and garden stuff, out doors activities the list is seasonal spending is endless. So the increased spending just on the season alone will make the $ correct more, but then you have rate cuts and increased tax returns coming back soon to that will also add to the increased spending. When people see improvements, they'll spend more, and snow ball effect the $ right back to being strong again.
Everything happens in cycles. Every year it cycles back, 10 years, 20 years, 100 years. Cycles with in cycles. The market is no different.
Can we say "Duh"?

every one was expecting bad $ news. So when news came out, even though it was positive, euro rallied. But could not sustain the break and is back where it started before news. Rallies are having a hard time holding ground now.

But really, this is getting on my nerves.

I really don't care where it goes, as long as it goes some where and gets out of this d*mn range its been in since the 26th.
Currently I can't make a trade until it does. I was out for half day today and glad I was. I might have gotten long happy on the break above 1.5800.


Was that the last rally before further correction, or is it gearing up for a real break out?

Just because I believe the $ is going to recover, it can still take its time, and even go higher before it takes full effect.
Euro$ likes to make one last high before fast drop. It does this a lot. But not always.

Yea, could have been more tactful, no offense, your one of the better ones here.

Problem with my view is it can take time to happen. Durring this time, give a lot of head fakes, and false breaks.

MNI - e/u trading at $1.5825 area in the wake of the quarter-end London fixing with dollar demand apparently the late showing interest after a US name ran the euro to highs just shy of $1.5900 ahead of the 4 pm BST event. One trader observes that a lot of late orders were compressed into a narrow time-frame and of course there were the usual suspects that tried to "beat the fix." Hefty sell orders seen in the euro-yen and cable added to the broader dollar demand and traders left to sort out the damage in the aftermath.

Something big is going to happen, soon I think..
Have been following WTI oil & E$ and they trend close to the same.
E$ goes up, WTI goes up (or is it the other way around?).

E$ just ran up & down and settled about where it started.

WTI ran up a little and fell like a rock! I can't find any news that would cause this. Is this the first correction, oil before E$ or is oil setting up another E$ run up to 1.59 - 1.6 or did somebody find oil while they were hunting?

Missed the last run, both ways... It is true, better out wishing you were in than the other way!

very true.

Gold is loosing steam as well... I am pretty certain that the Europeans are scared silly of 1.6000 and they will try to intervene; if not explicitly, then at least behind the curtains.

But it will still go past that eventually. you can't stop a freight train by pulling on it with a horse cart.

Yeah, this is pretty annoying. My gold futures went under water in a matter of a couple of hours even though I thought I got in on a big dip. It would appear the market has reacted to Paulson making waves by buying the depreciating green paper his employer keeps trying to prop up.

I agree with you that something is about to happen. I think that oil will continue up soon, the hefty fall in oil was mainy based on the fact that it was the last day of Q1. Profit taking in order to show good results for this period later on.

But also the Dow can't hold it's heights, why????

Well, we'll be going back to the fundamentals about the US economy and it will not be pretty.

The consumer is dead!!

Sell the dollar, buy gold and oil and short the Dow, maybe!!!

Well I'm back and it got there.. Exited shorts for a very nice profit. It's stuck for a bit let's see what happens. Placed short order at (EDIT) 735 and a double short at 695 till 625.. What will give the dollar strenght I don't know, but the technicals on the chart make it r3easonable to have another low I believe, if not now then a bit later after another shot up.. Let's wait and see.

Finishing a bachelor in AE in a month and a half. Somehow don't feel like designing a few small screws for a big airplane the rest of my life.. btw, that's more than 12 bucks now

Fall in oil is from lower reported profits as people slow the consumption of our oil usage. I saw that last week on CNN, that the oil companys will lower oil to increase consumption.

If oil continues up the oil company's will go bust because we WILL stop using it. There are too many alternative energy options.
There will be a point the American public can no longer take the oil prices. And if the price is 1000 per barrel they won't make a dime if we don't purchase it. And they are seeing there profits go down already, and we are only getting started with hybrids, and other energy sources. Car pooling, working from home, ect.
