Hail Cesarnc ! Can't see how global commodities can be manipulated for long, as in 'supply and demand'. I am off to buy some commodity stocks v soon

I should go long on hops as they are used to make beer and everyone stays totally ratted through recessions as they are depressed - and some stay drunk through bull markets too because they have made so much money.

The only Bush who is in favour right now is anheiser busch but I just sold mine to buy Goldman at 142. If I don't make 50% in 2 years I will show my bottom in the co-op window !


Back to currencies - after the rates statement, if he does chop big style then the usd is deader than eliot spitzer's current sex life

That's a good idea. Ethanol is about to go commodity, too. I guess it's a short at entry for the same reason. Refineries going Rum instead of fuel ethanol :

Actually commodities are going up via inflation hedging and speculators jumping in the bandwagon, although I can't tell the proportion. I think those hedges could spark a selloff.

No commodity expert here, just paying attention to them since there are so volatile lately.

good news for me - bought em yesterday at 142 and they are 162.5 right now...

These will be the survivors and the collapse of their competitors is super for them in a 2 year time bracket

Know what you mean though - if these are the stars then it makes me feel sad for the rest...

and Bear ? I know what it's like to get fired at 9.10am and be home at 9.15am with no company car anymore and watching your share options expire as they aren't vested yet...buying a 200 dollar car and sat in the house wearing 2 coats and the heating off (for a year) - those days are gone but I feel for the Bear Sterns folks - they have it all to come and so do a lot of others.

I climbed out of that hole in the 90's and I am rampant now - but there were some awful human disasters and suicides too... It's so sad to watch it unfold again

I have sympathy for many at BSC but they also were trying to get into the big leagues with Goldman and Merrill and took on far too much risk. "Get too close to the fire and you will get burned". Same as Drexel Burnham 2 decades ago.
