no not yet, trying to get FXCM to feed through MT4. then i can sort it myself, just trying to work out the highs over the coming months so i can secure my currency for when i move to OZ

on a test of 9000 we'll see some more stops being triggered, expecting some profit taking on a 9000 break. Might double up positions on a retrace.

Can I ask a newbie question in return?

After the NFP report today USDJPY and USDCHF spiked up.. EURUSD and GBPUSD spiked down etc etc.. based on the value of the USD rising on the news.

Why did the price of the AUDUSD move up? Shouldn't it have made an initial downward move too against the USD?

it did spike, only not as hard as say EU, this is beacuse, in my view, AUD is one of the strongest currencies out there at this time, they supply china with most of there materials for manufacturing. unlike the Euro and Pound who are suffering a little on sub-prime banking issues, although not as bad as the USD.

Basically if you had a few million where would you put it, AUD bank is the current leader.

just my opinion and i hope it helps. there is probably more to it though, but thats how i see it.

That's kind of helpful and I guess I knew that was part of the reason for sure.

But I think you might have missed the point of the question.. the USD suddenly spiked up in value at 8.30 est... at that time the AUDUSD was .8925 ... 15 minutes later it had risen to .8970

There was no news to make the AUD dollar rise faster than the US dollar at that same moment as far as I know?.. am I confusing myself or was it illogical for the AUDUSD to move that way, that fast, when the other major currencies were declining against the USD?



(the NZDUSD did the same thing)

It's to do with people waiting on the current report before adding or closing positions, many have been expecting the AU to reach 9100 for some time as with the EU to 1.4500. the report was not USD bullish enough to change the direction of current trends but spikes were seen in all pairs and then people open there longs.

when people look at charts we see support and resistance in certain areas, and the spike made it to places were these areas were before resuming there longs, the longs create the momentum as so many people are adding at the same point.

this is my view, i am sure that others will provide a more fundimantal analysis for you.

All of the commodity currencies are doing really well AUS, NZD, and CAD
The euro and cable are just not performing as well as these, No one is performing as well in my opinion. As long as they keep giving me lots and lots of pips I will continue to be biased in this opinion

Doing excactly the same. I've been watching this thread but never really posted on it due to my random B.S, I think I might contribute more to it though since these are the pairs I have been favoring lately. Of course NZDUSD has been my favorite pair for along time now, slow and steady it makes pips and you can leave positions open for a long time.

In the last six weeks AU has risen some 1300 pips. How can anyone still want to be long after an insane run like this? If the Fed doesn't drop the interest rate this month... watch out.

Go long go strong (actually thats my trade, but trade what your charts tell you)

and place a good SL,

just because. is no reason to expect a drop. AUD is very strong and getting stronger thanks to india and china. the evironment however is very week for the same reasons.LOL

yes we all expect a retracement soon. but we will ride that down too.

if you feel different post it, all views are welcome.

EUR/AUD is still some 250 pips off its July lows, so the run on A/U has to taken relative to the USDX.

The institutions showed us today that even in light of dollar positive news (along with a tumble in fed funds futures), for them it was an opportunity to dump dollars (billions & billions & billions worth..). Until that extreme USD negativity dissipates, A/U will continue to float higher.

With the markets at new all-time highs, we're beginning to see the correlation of a weak dollar/weaker yen like we saw for most of the year up until late July. This will drive the carry crosses such as A/J even higher.

The commodities are ruling supreme in the markets right now and so long as they do so will the currencies of these countries.
I am still bullish as can be just look out for a retracement than add to your long position.

do you trade euraud? if so is it another trending reliable pair, always looking to add new pairs to my list of must take a look at's

just to add when the USD gains it's strength i will be throwing away the parachute and trying to keep up it AU shorts will be on big time. till then LONg LONG LONG.
