Is anyone using the 4hr/30 min stoch system? How consistent is the system for you?

Someone around here asked for a posting of all 3 of the TEB systems. I could post TEB1 and TEB3, but I don't have TEB2.

Anyone got all 3 handy?

I am currently using a Moving Averages strategy and comparing it to TEB2. The TEB system seems to give earlier entries. I am trying find a way of combining both to ensure excellent signals.

My experience is that stoch systems, especially TEB2, perform much better than MAs.

The problem I had when using TEB2 was that the slower stoch did not always show the trend correctly. During long steady trends the slower (e.g. 4H) stoch would indicate that trend is changing, but in many cases that was not true. So, instead of using stochs for determining the big trend, I moved to trendlines, like the graph shows.

I draw a trendline on the slower TF (e.g. 4H) and then move to a faster TF (1H) where I use stochs for entries.

But like you say, MA's can also be used for trend determination.

TEB2:

Stochs; 5.3.3 aand 14.3.3

charts: 4h and 30m.

Look for crosses on the 4h and draw a line when they occur. then move to 30m and when they cross enter. Stronger signal when they happen simultaneously (or as close as possible).

If you obey the rules it is difficult to lose. yesterday 21/09 I went long GBPJPY at approx 06:00 am GMT. 3 of the 4 crosses were in place and I said what the hell, the 4th is about to come. It did come finally half an hour later after I had been stopped for 35 pips. Had I waited for the 4th cross it would have netted me zillions of pips. So the moral of the story is that patience is a virtue.

Also the system is great if you can manage to follow the rules. Of course you can bent the rules a little if you feel it is going to happen. Yesterday it didnt happen for me but it does happen more often than not. I mean if I have the 3 out of 4 crosses in place i usually enter and end in profit.

I've been trying this (is this maybe TEB4?) method for the last week or so with excellent results.
Some slight timing changes though: to detect trends more quickly I'm doing H8 instead of daily for the trend -- but still using H4 for trading.

I actually look at the Daily first to see the broader trend but the H8 is the decider. I fine tune entry on the H4 by checking the H1.

So in summary: D1 then H8 for trend, H4 for trading having glanced at the H1 to verify the correct candle colour.
All with MAs only, I don't like Stochastics.

I'll be running this again next week so maybe more to report then.

Offtopic: does anyone know of reliable charts with histogram price feature?

I'm looking at IG index charts, but they seem to sometimes be unsynchronised with price change. Anyone suggest more reliable charts with histogram function?

4 crosses? you only have 2 stoch's. when you say cross, are you talking about the 5 and 14 stoch's crossing w/ each other (which only makes 2 crosses) or the main on each one crossing w/ their signal line?

I've been using Teb 3 with big successes. I'm trying to learn how to test systems on Interbank FX Trader 4. Am I right, I need an EA for testing? Is there one for Teb 3? Any help appreciated.

Out of interest, add a 3 EMA Open and 3EMA Close to your chart. It looks bit strange but it generally makes the MAs and stochs coincide. Interestingly it sometimes gives a valid signal that the H4 stochs miss but the M30 stochs confirm?

I have an EA for TEB3. It hasn't been successfull (It can't tell when the market is in consildation or not).

But to answer your qeustion, no, you don't need an EA. Trade a demo going forward. Best way to tell if you know/understand the system and if it's successful for you (which by the sounds of it, it is).

BTW, if your a coder, I'll post the code for improvement.

First of - thank you to TEB - I have demo traded your system with a very good win/ loss ratio of about 70-85%. Going live now.

Could somebody also explain to me how to set up the charts for MT4 so I can see the stochastic with the 4 hour period within the 30 min chart ?
Even by right clicking on the stoch 30 min chart and marking the box 30 min and 4 hours the 4 hour period stoch won´t show.

Icfxtrader and Dan S have set it up properly - unfortunately not even costumer service from my broker could help me out on that one.

You need the MTF stoch indicator MTF being multiple timeframe.

Only problem i found was when setting the MTF indicators to 30min for example and then a standard stoch they didnt match....

Hey global invest, might I ask how long you are demo trading? Would like to get an idea how long you been demo trading the system and if you have tested in all kinds of conditions.

I assume that you are using TEB2 as you are asking about setting up the 4hr and 30m, is this correct?

TEB2 is correct - been demo trading for about 3 weeks.
In all market conditions - usually do not pay any attention to news announcements - only in case of interest rate changes, etc.

Traded mainly volatile pairs as Gbp/Yen, Gbp/ Usd, but also Eu/Usd.

Dan: would you mind detailing me how to set up these multiple time frames ?
As I consider it a little better to have everything on one screen rather than switching back and forth and drawing in vertical lines...... ?
