My name is Boris Sedov. I have been developing trading tools for MetaTrader since 2008. In this thread, I want to introduce one of my best products — a tool I worked hard to make truly convenient and useful. What Is Seconds Chart?

Seconds Chart is a unique tool for creating second-based charts in MetaTrader 5.

With Seconds Chart, you can construct charts with timeframes set in seconds, providing unparalleled flexibility and precision in analysis that is unavailable with standard minute or hourly charts. For example, the S15 timeframe indicates a chart with candles lasting 15 seconds. You can use any indicators and Expert Advisors that support custom symbols. Working with them is just as convenient as on standard charts.

Unlike standard tools, Seconds Chart allows you to operate at ultra-short timeframes with high accuracy and without delays.

How to Install the Demo (60 Seconds)

1. Download the demo file from the link above
2. Open MetaTrader 5 → File → Open Data Folder → MQL5 → Experts
3. Copy the downloaded file to the Experts folder
4. Restart the terminal
5. Open a demo account — the demo version works only on a demo account
6. Find "Seconds Chart" in the Navigator and drag it onto a GBPCAD chart

That's it. Setup takes about 1 minute.

Timeframe Settings

Default settings include the following timeframes: S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S10, S12, S15, S20, S30.
You can easily customize your set of second-based timeframes by listing values from 1 to 900 seconds in ascending order without repetitions.

Charting a Specific Time Period

The From Date and To Date input parameters specify the exact period for your seconds chart. This allows you to build a chart using only a specific segment of your loaded tick history, perfect for focusing your analysis on a particular market event or period.

To start building a chart from a specific date onward, simply set the From Date and leave the To Date at its default value. If you set both From Date and To Date, a static, offline chart for that specific period will be built.

If you leave both the From Date and To Date fields at their default values, the seconds chart will be built using a non-deep slice of the most recent tick history.

How it works:

1. The script sequentially requests all available tick history from the trade server — starting from the earliest date your broker stores
2. Downloaded ticks are saved in the terminal and used by Seconds Chart to build second-based charts
3. The script shows progress during operation and reports the exact date of the earliest downloaded tick when finished

Tick History Loader is free and available on the MQL5 Market. A simple and reliable way to prepare data for in-depth analysis on ultra-short timeframes.

Use Case: Precise Entry on a Pullback

One use of Seconds Chart is finding a precise entry on a pullback. On a minute chart, you see the overall picture and the level. On a second-based chart (e.g., S15), you wait for confirmation: a candlestick pattern, a micro-level breakout, a price reaction. A second-based chart lets you enter with an accuracy of a few points, reducing the stop loss and increasing the risk/reward ratio.
