Do you actually avoid news hours?

I also noticed it, when I expect markets to aggressively react to news, they barely react, even with the concerned currency pair.
I even developed a strategy for volatile conditions, that will be applicable to only large swings, I applied it this moment of high impact news and I saw markets move.

I mean, the markets barely moved. Where there were to be large swings, the strategy would have worked.

My advice is to open separated account only for trading news if you want to trade them. I'm trading after news, only if the price reach my targets.

I am usually cautious during news hours. After a news release, the market can change rapidly, and stops can get hit more easily. If I do trade, I look for short-term moves where prices change quickly and positions close fast.

When I first started trading, I avoided red folder news. But as my trading strategies developed and I became better at reading price action, I look forward to it now.
It also depends on the day, as I also trade London so if I have made my minimum profit target during London, then I will skip NY/NYSE completely and reanalyze for the next day.

Actually I do not avoid trading red folder new because of my swing trading style. I'm often on the D1 and 4hr chart so I do not really give much attention during news event. I do not see news event as some kind of manipulation but to accelerate which direction the market want to head. The thing is, it's a different feeling when you play on the higher tfms.

the risk during news is obvious but the harder problem is the state it creates after. even if you avoid the spike, watching a big move happen without you triggers something. the next trade after a missed news move is often where the real damage happens.
