Also Central pivot for today (which is 15:30ET open on sunday) ?

Thanks Trader07 for the pivots! Has anyone had any contact with the Dove?? This forum is so quite without him!! He had added life and a twist in my old ways of trading. His direction in trading the pivots is greatly missed! Since reading this forum I will never look at the USD/JPY the same again!!! He has left a legacy of examples that will continue on for a liftetime. Thanks Dove!!

I agree... It's pretty much dead without him.

My values a way different from urs, how did u calculate urs? Maybe that's my exit were always wrong. Please share with me, anyone feel free to help

Totally agree about Dove.... I came to this thread by accident....he inspired me such that I realised that it was indeed possible for an "average" person to make a living out of FX trading...at a time that I was totally disillusioned.

The old saying "The teacher comes when the student is ready..." couldn't have been more true for me... I think that Dove's philosophy in teaching - where he has given us enough information to be successful, even though some of his indicators are somewhat still a mystery, to me is sound. A good teacher always makes his students think...to give all the answers is doing his students a disservice.

He has inspired me to continue to learn and seek out for myself further answers....thank you and God Bless you Dove!

WEEKLY PIVOTS
The easiest way to calculate the weekly pivots is to bring up a weekly chart….. You would use the open, the high and the low on the last week candle. You then will wait for the open on Sunday’s candle for the close and the central pivot. And the reason for using Sunday’s candle is because of the flotation of movement between Friday’s closing and Sunday’s open….. I will place the pivots on the weekly only and write them down a piece of paper to keep track…..

I also use my moving averages and a Bollinger Band set at 15 to keep track of the trend for the weeks ahead.… I also have a Slow_K set at default and in this case, it is getting close of being oversold.

One thing I forgot to mention is how the weekly central pivot is found and that is on your 15:30 ET candle on Sunday, which is the time that the market opens for the week..... and if you do not get a 15:30 candle on any of your charts then there is nothing can be done to find it.

I use Friday's closing because of the distance of pivots. Using Friday's closing will keep it safe when you are using the daily..... Just like today..... it hit the daily at 118.47 and that was then end of the up..... If I had used another closing I would had missed it.

Sunday 15:30 (Open/Central) - Friday Close

DAILY SUNDAY PIVOTS
I will try to explain this as easy as possible…… These pivots that are calculated are done so between the hours of 17:00 (Open/Central) – 17:00 (Close)

Some brokers have different hours than others and the time table will be upset because of the opening and closing of the broker. The best way to beat this will be on determining the flux of candles between the hours your broker opens and closes.

Let’s take my broker…. On Friday they shut down at 4:30 pm ET which means there are still 30 minutes left for calculations of the pivots…... They re-open Sunday at 4:00 pm ET…. Now, there is a new candle that popped up when he open at 4:00 pm…..

Now, I have Fridays open, the high, and the low. What I am waiting on now is the close of Sunday’s new candle that open at 4:00 pm and the new one that will open at 5:00 pm (17:00 ET). I will use the closing of the candle that open at 4:00 pm for the closing and open of the 5:00 pm for the central pivot for the next 24 hours.

Let say the candle that open at 4:00 pm moves either higher or lower than Fridays candle then I will use that high or low for calculations and also for the closing of Fridays candle…..

I hope this explains how to calculate on a daily basis… This is also the technique if your broker does not have a 17:00 candle on the daily then use the 1 hour 17:00 candle to calculate.

What I mean by Fridays closing is if the closing is higher or lower than Fridays (high or low) that will also calculate for the closing on Sunday's candle at 17:00.....

MIDPOINT PIVOTS
The most heaviest midpoint takes presences over most which are the midpoints of the centrals and main pivots, such as the daily and weekly.

I wish I could ask Dove how to calculate pivots after the holiday session...

Things aren't going to pick up till after the holiday... It's going to be a big week after that... tons of news...

The USA holiday makes no difference to the calculation of the pivots....you use the same method/time as usual.

What do you use as the 17:00 close?

Am I wrong or it' time to go long? I heard someone talking about a bullish candle didn't really understand, but what do u think?

If you are calculating the daily pivots etc at 17.00 est, you would still use that closing time/price to calculate the following days pivots as normal.... the "forex market" will still be "open" even though it is a USA holiday.

I just dont see any clear market direction on USDJPY throughout the last two weeks. Not the kind of price action I like to see in order to get involved.

Some Banks may also operate even though it may be a holiday in their particular Country/Centre.

If a particular broker is closed it doesn't necessarily mean the "market" is closed.
