Which Pairs Are Likely to Hold Their Predicted Direction?

This thread is meant to answer that. If you check my profile, you’ll see several TEs. They're all the same but with different start times. Just look at the pairs and their directions. I trade three timeframes on each account, so it’s possible for the same pair to be a buy on one timeframe and a sell on another. In practice, most of the time the direction lines up across timeframes.

The key thing to understand is that the system trades all Forex major and minor pairs at the same time on three different timeframes. That gives safety in numbers. The more pairs and timeframes traded, the more diversified things are.

How does this help you? You can trade all the pairs in the direction shown, or just pick a few from what you see in the TE that happen to be pairs you’re thinking of trading that day.

Since the TE only shows orders after a trade has closed, I’ll try to share the first day’s pairs and predicted directions when I can. There will be closed trades before tomorrow, so the TE should be working normally by then.

For the Stop Order method that was started at 02:00, max number of trades 200 was reached around 07:30, so one option is to close at 200 trades but since I believe the directions will hold up, I'll just hold onto it until closer to end of day.

The Stop Order method started at 04:00 reached max number of trades now too. Instead of closing, I'll just hold on since I believe the directions will hold up.

This screenshot is from the 04:00 start, even though my favorite based on the past week of testing is to start before Tokyo. Is anybody trading these pairs? or a better question, is anybody reading this thread or I'm just talking to myself here?

I’ve removed all Stop Order methods. Trades were being placed too quickly, and it’s better to spread them out over a longer period to improve diversification. The key goal here is risk distribution. Below is the limit order method, which still has plenty of room to place more trades before reaching broker max.

Starting before Tokyo and letting it run through all the sessions seems to be best.

You lost me in Post 1 with the being short on one time frame and long on another time frame, not logical Captain, as Spock said.

Elementary learning of price action dictates to trade with the trend, for example Alexander Elder's teaching of The Triple Screen System.

And everyone learns about 2 Moving Averages crossover on all time frames, fairly basic technique that works enough of the time to be valid in the concept.

Or maybe I got it wrong and just need more pictures to see the strength your method.

Everything is completely independent so when I said I'm trading three different timeframes on one account, that's because MT5 on my computer seems to have a limit on the number of charts open and since I'm trading all pairs, the maximum number of timeframes I can trade in one terminal is three. But each chart is trading independently of each other so for example, it's possible for the EA applied to EURUSD H1 to think, buy EURUSD on H1, but then the EA applied to EURUSD on H4 to think sell EURUSD. It does happen but not so very often. It seems like everything being aligned would be better, but actually, it's best for each to be completely independent in order to get diversification, safety in numbers.

About the second thing you mentioned, yeah, trade with the trend, that's the idea here too, but I'm trading intraday, one day at a time, so it's possible the trend direction might not match the trend direction of someone trading for a longer period of time like days or weeks.

Yeah it is interesting, so one could simply look at the pairs on the TE being traded with the given direction and see if it matches their system or supports their bias. Like I was saying, most of the time, all the trades for a given pair will be in one direction, like for example EURUSD is sell for the day, but since everything is independent, it is possible that on a few pairs, there will be both buy and sell for example on EURUSD, which is also fine, you get diversification. The point is, if all the pairs in the system are traded in their direction, etc., then the net should be positive at some point later in the day, as can be seen from the TE. I created this TE yesterday but actually I've been testing this for a week, with similar results. Since most of the pairs are in one direction, if it's being traded on a live account, then it would be ideal to close the trades at some point when there is a net profit amount, but it's a demo account so I'm letting them run and what I've observed is that overall, the pairs in the basket generally hold their direction until the end of day throughout the sessions Tokyo, London, New York.

What you are suggesting/doing is defining a descriptor for determining a calculated guess of a direction an instrument may take on any given TF and executing trades based on those descriptors en-mass and the theory is that enough will be correct, long enough, to reach a basket of profit before starting again.

I'm not sure I fully understood what you meant but basically, it's doing a lot of calculations based on the timeframe it's applied to. It gets the directions right and most of the time the directions align among the three timeframes. As mentioned, in order to generate more trading activity, I'm trading three timeframes per terminal. I could apply it to more timeframes but three timeframes seem to give enough action for intraday. I had created a Journal where I was posting some screenshots as a final step before creating a TE, and the pairs are shown in those screenshots starting from early in the day, along with several updates so you can see the pairs it's selecting and see their end of day results of those directions. Did that answer your question?

So my point is, if it shows a direction, let’s say EURUSD is buying, then chances are, that’s going to be the direction for EURUSD for the day because it’s not common that another timeframe decides it’s a sell instead. The instances where there are both buys and sells in the screenshots, the pair is colored black, instead of red or green. But I didn’t label the screenshots in the Journal as which strategy because I think I was also trying something else so some of the screenshots. The first screenshots in the Journal, early in the day and their followups are the correct strategy, the only one I was doing yesterday on the TE.

And you can also see this by looking at the screenshots later in the day, if you look at the last column, pretty much all the pairs and their single directions were right, there might be just a few pairs that are in small loss, and their direction is probably actually correct too, but they just need longer time to realize it, like it might show the next day, because some of those trades were probably placed later in the day. It generally takes about 2 hours for a trade placed to be in profit and it’ll just continue going in profit thereafter. If there are pullbacks in equity, it will continue shortly after. It’s never a falling knife situation with the equity. I’m really liking the safety in numbers approach. It feels solid.

I may be late replying, but it's taking me a while to figure out what this is all about. The idea is interesting at first glance, and if I understood a little, it would be interesting to use automated trading on a demo account.
