Last time I used Ichimoku in my trading was about 6 years ago and for the last 6 years I trade without indicators, pure PA action.

But, I wanted to return to Ichimoku, because of success I had before. There is something special about this Japanese technique(MA'a and a cloud) and I wanted to see if my personal calculations of it are still hold true.

Here are my trades with Ichimoku as of December 1, 2025. Hopefully discussion continues on it.

5 Trades Dow Futures 1 Hour TF.

1 Winning trade closed at + 12%, each loosing trade(3) is - 2% and 1 ongoing trade for +124 points, at about + 8%,

As of December 1, it is +20% - 6% = + 14% in profit.

I trade variation on this technique with personal statistically adjusted MAs and a cloud(I will not discuss it).

Few helpful tips, I only trade hourly TF and with at most 2% SL and at least 10% TP.

Anything below 1 Hour will not work. I do not go to BE but do control Mindfuck(Fear and Greed) to wait out 10% TP with sound MM.

Thanks for sharing this am grateful, I so much love Ichimoku too but am still a baby trader.

Let’s get back to Ichimoku again after about two months away. I hope everyone is doing well.
Thankfully, my daughter is doing well too. She’s been through the worst crisis, although she needs several months of care, everything is thankfully very, very good now.
After about a month, I’ve also returned to working with Ichimoku.

First of all, I’d really appreciate it if you could post your exercises directly in the group, if possible, so the other members can benefit from them as well.
Yes, based on your review, touching the numbers within the range I mentioned had good profitability, as you said yourself, more than 80% of them were profitable.
Now I want to point out the flaws in your analysis, which I believe some of the other members might also be making:

  1. You must absolutely, without exception, analyze the prior range. At least the previous 9 ranges, where all candles, the Kijun, and the Tenkan are on the same side of the Kumo cloud. This is extremely important.
  2. One of your mistakes that caused multiple stop-outs was ignoring the previous Span. Price had not yet crossed the Span. Especially when price makes a small correction and then reverses, you must wait until it closes at the highs or lows formed by the previous Spans, and only then start your analysis.
  3. If price closes as described in point 2 and you still get stopped out, you must wait for the market to become oversold or overbought and for saturation to occur.
    What does saturation mean in Ichimoku?
    It means that all Ichimoku components move beyond the high or low created by the previous Span. (post 129#)
  4. Your targets were not correct. You need to consider that, according to Goichi Hosoda, when the market reaches a time change, three things can happen:

    1. It may hesitate briefly & then continue in the same direction
    2. It may change direction
    3. Or it may accelerate in its previous direction
      That’s why, when price reaches the Emma zone & passes 50% of it, you must have a clear & proper plan for securing profits.


  5. Pay close attention to the Tenkan and Kijun levels that are being touched.

One mistake I see a lot in your analyses is this one. I tried to find a similar example.
Even if Tenkan and Kijun haven’t left the Kumo yet, you really need to wait until the price actually closes above the previous Kumo before considering it a valid area to analyze.
This happens a lot during corrections.

Another one of your mistakes was not paying attention to the position of Tenkan & Kijun. As I mentioned, for at least the previous 9 candles: if you want to take a short trade, they should be above the Span, and if you want to take a long trade, they must be below the Span.
I’ll send you an indicator that shows the status of Tenkan and Kijun.

  1. Blue means they are above the Span
  2. Pink means they are below the Span
  3. Gray means they are inside the Span
  4. Yellow means their condition is unstable


They must be green or red for at least the previous 9 periods in the direction of your trade

I’d like to share a tool that I think could really help everyone. Figuring out 26, 9, and so on definitely takes time, and trying to speed things up might slow progress or make you less motivated to keep going. Hope it’s useful for you all!

Quick explanation: you can type in any range you want in the indicator, and it will draw vertical lines for the periods before & after your start line, & label the range for you.
If you like, it can also color 3 ranges to help you focus for analysis.
The indicator isn’t hard to use—if you have any questions, just ask me.
You do need a line called “start” on the chart. If it’s not there, you can add it with the start button directly on the chart.

I’ve expanded the explanations more from post 190 onward—check them out, ask if anything isn’t clear.
From what I understand of Hosoda, the creator of Ichimoku: a trend change happens when equilibrium turns into disequilibrium. Hosoda also says that when there’s disequilibrium, the market is more likely to change.
The number touches in the area I mentioned can be seen as a congestion zone. For example, when 9, 26, or other important numbers hit our decision area(Emma Zone), it shows some kind of accumulation. According to Hosoda, after these accumulations comes the change day, three things can happen:

  1. Price accelerates and keeps moving in the same direction.
  2. Price changes direction.
  3. Price hesitates and fluctuates a bit before changing.

There isn’t any special formula. I wrote it this way just to make it easier to read. Essentially, it’s a comparison of the differences between the Spans and the differences between Tenkan and Kijun.
According to the sources, if the difference between the Spans & the difference between Tenkan & Kijun—and their ratio—falls below 30% of the Span difference, it indicates a type of disequilibrium.
I examined two areas to analyze both the past and the future.
