Interesting to see ppl using ichimoku on 5min TF, I have very little knowledge on this but i know that most ppl would trade ichimoku on 4h and daily TF.
Good luck on your adventure

Asliok,

How long have you been trading 5min Ichimoku? Please could you let us know how your method performs on a monthly basis, in terms of max drawdown, expectancy, net pips, average winners:average losers etc?

I have used Ichimoku as a support/resistance guide before, but on 4hr upwards. Conventional wisdom suggests Ichimoku is too unreliable on lower timeframes, so looking forward to following the discussion.

Good trading.

Ichimoku-kinko-hyo was invented by a Japanese trader in 1930's. I don't know why people on FF don't talk about this much, but big guys such as banks and hedge funds use Ichimoku. Once you get to used to reading the Tenkan-sen, Kijyun-sen, Kumo, etc, you'll know how powerful and reliable this tool can be.

I love resurrecting old threads...but...here's the hands-down best site for Ichimoku....and actually small timeframes are preferred (not that you can't use them for larger)

Ichimoku is a great tool.

It is very powerful on 1h, 4h, and daily charts.

I have had some success with it on a 15m and some on a 5m. You really need to understand the in's and out's of the tenkan, kijun, and most importantly, their relation to the cloud and how the cloud's future shape can allow for major price movements.

If you are looking to use the ichimoku on a 5m or 15m, you really need to study and it is recommended you trade only in the direction of the 1h or 4h trend.

Ichimoku with ADX is very powerful.

I recently began using the cloud and am searching for a current chat room where people are actively posting charts and sharing ideas. I just joined the VSA forum which is excelant, just trying to join the 2 together.

Hello to all. Just wanted to say that using Ichimoku along with VSA setups is a great thing to do, specially for cross-yen pairs like eur/jpy or gbp/jpy.

Ichimoku gives the background and direction that VSA need before searching for a setup and VSA gives the setups themselves along triggers.

And Ichimoku kinjun-sen in great for trailing stop and target as is the kumo or cloud.

Will post charts and setups in the ichimoku and vsa threads as time goes by.

All the best to all

Shreem

Never had much luck on the 5 min...too quick....15 min is splendid if you're not greedy. Add a double line stochastic (5,3,3). For a short....if stoch is peaked and falling take the cross over....if it's bottomed be careful. you'll have to experiment with the middle peaks. Also, I like a bull candle peak followed by a bear that closes below the bull. I take 3-15 usually...if the stoch is at the very top you may want to take a longer ride. I try to never take a loss after 15 pips on the 15 min chart. Close with one at minumum. If the stoch has reached the bottom and you have positive pips.....close out....unless...all the ichy indicators say major short.
