In regards to the previous post with Inside bars and Outside bars :

Both types of PA are a great tool in a toolbox of a Price Action trader . While Outside Bars are often used in a direction they formed in , there's another way to trade them.

You can notice , what happened , when this 1 hr Bullish Outside Bar ( BUOB ) broke in opposite direction . It resulted in nearly 2.5 R move . In this setup a proxy pin formed at the top of the BUOB and 4 bars after BUOB formed it broke to the downside . In that case I call them Rubbish OB .

The sooner the bottom breaks , the better .

Entry : sell stop order with 5 bar expiry
Stop loss : above the BUOB

On the other hand , they shouldn't be traded as a standalone setup , but always as a trigger in an overall picture as in this case . You can notice a bounce of off a zone and a bottom of this BUOB also formed a minor double bottom that broke lower .

I trade them within the next 5 bars in my intraday trading . But that's probably for another thread .

I found this chart, which is from this article: Inside Day NR4 (ID/NR4) Pattern Trading Guide - Trading Setups Review.

It shows how fake IB set-ups that fail to break out do occur, but can be "countered" by one breakout:

It is not a currency chart; but that just goes to show that this method applies to other financial securities,
and not just to currency pairs.
Bear in mind, also, that this is a daily price chart and not the hourly ones that people usually post.

Had another pre - breakout trade on ETHEREUM using 12 hr IB as a trigger . This one worked nicely . Sell stop got triggered 3 days later .

It already gave some profit yesterday with a retest of that all time high . My plan is to hold and trail in case we could see some new highs again . Some bearish action across US indices today , so let's see what tomorrow brings us .

I have ignored today's IB as I expected pullback lower and even a loss on yesterday's setup . But if another 12 hr IB forms near all time high again , that might be a different scenario .

Update on the GOLD charts, after an 11% retracement from the All Time High (ATH) weekly inside bar formed, break of the inside bar, and now break of the Mother Bar (MB) returning to a long bias for many traders except the diehard contrarians.

12 hrs Inside Bars on all 6 GOLD instruments that I watch .

The best were XAUUSD and XAUCHF . I took only XAUCHF as this time I didn't want to hold over the weekend too many trades . ( As I Also took 12 hr IB's on BITCOIN that formed last Wednesday and yesterday ) .

I set TP at major support around 3185 - 3190 area marked on the chart . No wonder , price started to retrace after the TP was hit .

One of my quickest trades this year as TP for around 2 R was hit in just 2hr and 23 minutes . Not bad for 12 hr TF and max 60 minutes spent on charts a day .

Will also update on the FTSE I posted the other day .

Last couple of trades made me a new equity high .

Are you watching this, broke this huge 4-hour range yesterday but closed back inside, which makes it a blue box, but now trying again.

Can it crack last week's low and on to the previous 11% retracement from the ATH, my broker prices at least?

I had an itchy finger to sell yesterday's IB , but skipped it this time . Didn't like the area marked on the chart.

However I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't hold .

XAUUSD more of a zone , also BRN 4.000.

XAUAUD in its cleanest form . Also PPZ - price pivot zone .

I liked GBPUSD better .

More space and more parts of confluence :

1 , Combo 12 hr IB after pin
2 , Mini TL break
3 , Pin also retested previous high after False break , as marked on the chart
4 , EMA's very close after a long time and I expected divergence

TP has just been hit .

I missed GBPCAD. Forgot to put it in my watch list .

Nice setup , also more parts of confluence .

Also with 2 same lows that tend to attract price .

TP would have been hit.



You can notice what often happens when those small trend lines ( mini TL ) break .

But that's just one part of an equation . More confluence is needed .

1 min break on BITCOIN , 2 IB's .

Gave 15 R per trade per IB .

No , I didn't take it . I trade BO intraday differently .

But on 12 h I would have been defo in .

BITCOIN formed 2 nice IB's and all I had to do was to place a stop order below them . First one hit a full TP for 2.45 R.

With the second one I targeted 89 k mark , but was stopped while trailing with a smaller profit . Original target at 89500 would have been hit for around 4.5 R.

Around 4.3 R together on both trades .

It looks like no one trades IB's here and the thread is slowly dying .

This is my last post in this thread and I'd like to summarize my last 6 weeks of posting here .

I meant to share with traders that were interested in IB setups , that it is possible to make money with it .

I know there were some doubts about original concept of DIBS .

But the truth is I trade IB's completely different way and I don't even call it DIBS , just 12 hr IB setups .

Have attached Equity curve from one of my accounts .

I use 2 accounts for 12 IB's , CHF and EUR based . I haven't withdraw anything from CHF based account for nearly 2 years . Posting it as I'm about to do so now and the Equity curve will look differently .

You can also see the Drawdown period I mentioned in one of my posts around a month ago . 9 losers in a row mixed with some BE trades . Did I stop trading ? No way . If I did I wouldn't have a new equity high in another few weeks .

Currently on a new equity high too .
