This is one of my entries on the M5, following a 1H breakout. And since I only work with gold, I'm not sure how profitable this strategy would be on other currency pairs.
I wrote this code myself, and while similar versions exist, they're often very heavy & slow down the chart. With this one, you can easily see whether the 50% breakout has occurred or not. It's based on the High, Low - Close, Open

The order of components in Ichimoku
The Ichimoku components have a specific sequence, these principles must be observed. If this is not the case, it could mean the market might be ranging—don't trade.
If you incorporate this sequence into the setups I mentioned, you'll be protected from many incorrect trades. You might miss some trades, but it's not important—another good trade will always come along.
While I personally use about 90% of crossovers, I recommend sticking to the principles of the component hierarchy in the beginning
Component Order: Price → Tenkan-sen → Kijun-sen → Senkou Span A → Senkou Span B

Chikou Span is sometimes placed after Tenkan and Kijun, and sometimes before them. This very characteristic can be helpful. Make sure to examine it.
This week, I want to distinguish between different types of crossovers—which ones are good and which ones are not. One of the key topics for this will be the "order of components

Sometimes when the market becomes difficult for you to understand, check how the component order is. If the order is disrupted, it means the market has entered a ranging phase or is about to change. In such a situation, you can avoid entering anywhere. It's a simple but very important principle.

Tenkan and its previous 9-candle range

In the section about Tenkan and Kijun crosses, there was a lot of emphasis on paying attention to how Tenkan & Kijun behave before and after a cross.
Today I want to start discussing Tenkan, because I believe understanding it properly will greatly help you discover Kijun’s behavior & its relationships on your own.
If we just wait for a cross to happen and only then see the slope of Kijun & Tenkan change, we’ve actually missed part of the wave— that cross might not even be a good one.
The goal is to understand a bit better where the market starts to change direction.
Before we begin: Stop-loss is an inevitable part of trading and the market, and even with this system, we’ll sometimes hit our stops — but in my opinion, it happens less often than in other trading systems.
At the start, pay close attention to the fundamental order of Ichimoku’s components, as mentioned before.

When the price closes above the Tenkan line, that’s when our work begins — the market requires some patience here.

When the price closes above Tenkan-sen, you should mark the high and low of the previous 9 candles. If the price breaks this range afterward, you can expect a correction or a potential trend change.
This is strongly connected to Kijun’s behavior and whether, after closing above it, the price still has enough strength to keep going or just makes a small correction before continuing in the same direction.
So you need to analyze two things: when the price closes above Tenkan and breaks the 9-candle range, how does Kijun behave in that moment?

This is where the game begins, and I recommend changing the numbers and testing them — it’s worth it.

This indicator displays whether the candle's close is above or below the Tenkan line. Replacing the Tenkan period with 26 will make it show the Kijun line instead

The rule for closing above or below the Tenkan-sen:

There must be a candle before the candle that closes above or below Tenkan that has no contact with Tenkan whatsoever.

When a close above or below Tenkan occurs, we examine the previous 9 candles. If a breakout does not occur, you must wait for another candle to form that has no contact with Tenkan, and after its close, reassess the breakout conditions
(If the first close is not successful, sometimes it is better to wait for the market to form higher highs or lower lows and then analyze again)

The first close is important, not consecutive closes!!!

This happens frequently in the market. The zone I marked isn't suitable for expecting a drop, for three reasons:

  1. The order of the Ichimoku components isn't correct
  2. Price hasn't yet broken through the Senkou Span (Past)
  3. Price isn't significantly distant from the current Spans

Break of Senkou Span A and B:
Note this carefully: What do Senkou Span A and B mean?
When price breaks Span B and the candle closes outside it, can it then exit its previous range or not?
I suggest you study the timing of when price breaks through key levels.

I've mentioned the topic of breakout once before, but I'll now create a detailed post about it so you can understand my perspective on what constitutes a "breakout".

A valid breakout requires at least 50% of the candle's body to close beyond the level. The less shadow/wick there is, the better.
Breakouts, the first touch, the first break are important. That's why I had to explain how a real breakout looks — at least once.

The first close above the Tenkan was a bit suspicious to me bc gold was moving very wildly. I waited to see how the next few candles would behave, when I saw it couldn't close below the Tenkan again, I entered a long position
Risk to reward was 1:6 - 1:4

I'm glad the content is good. My intention has been to first cover the common topics available everywhere, and then gradually share more precise and better entry points. The goal is for us to be able to utilize everything that happens in Ichimoku.
The M1 system design isn't finished yet. I'm working on the system & unfortunately don't have time to post. It might take a month or two... I won't feel comfortable until I've backtested at least 3ys of data. Even though it's been good this past week, it still needs to get better

I am getting inspired by it. Searching for points of entry that are both good for buy and sell. Under certain conditions, the buy becomes the sell and sell becomes the buy. Entry becomes the exit and exit becomes the entry. To cover both choppy and trendy moments . Fun !
If I don't mention SL and/or TP = longer-term setup possibly in the works!

Yes, it might take even more time. I have my personal life alongside trading... Overall, since it's based on concepts I already use on the 1H with some modifications, it shouldn't take too long. I just need to filter out some entries & set the right conditions clearly
I've been working exclusively on Gold for a long time; when I switch to other currencies, their movements confuse me My eyes have gotten used to Gold's high speed & movement—it's so volatile & fast. when I hear that these concepts work on other currencies too, it makes me happy

Time in Tenkan Sen:
Our discussion so far has been about this: when price closes below or above the Tenkan, we identify the last 9 candles & their 9-period range. If this range is broken, there's a possibility the trend could change. As I mentioned before, also pay attention to the Kijun's behavior — I'll make a post about that later.
This breakout has a time window... If it lasts more than 9 candles, you should consider the possibility of a market reversal. We're talking about probabilities here, not certainties. Pay attention to where the future 9-period range is & where it stands in the trend. Change the numbers. It's worth it.
