Big E' TMS 5-Method is not easy because you must master the 5-Method first then using the Stoch and TDI for setups.

It is better for you to stick with @RobinHood' TMS(r) here and start with his template#1 and #2. Here is a lot easier for new traders and get started.

When I have time, I will post charts and explain the 5-Method price action using template #1 here. The 5-Method trade setups are the same for both TMS and TMS(r).

I woke up just before 5:00 a.m. today. With nothing much to do so early in the morning, I started talking to Artificial Intelligence about ways to improve one of my main trading templates. The conversation went on for over an hour and I ended up making several improvements to the template based on what AI and I discussed.

Then, later this morning after I was done day trading for the day, I thought that I would have a conversation with AI about the indicators and settings that are in Template #1 (on Page #1) and how to improve them. It was a much shorter conversation, but I thought that others here who are trading it or some variation of it would like to see what AI had to say about it, so here's the conversation:

BTW, in my first conversation about my trading template, it told me to change the Stochastics settings in the RSO to be: 34, 10, 3. (the longer one I use that is set to between: 50-60, 10-12, and 3) AND to keep using only the %D line.

Thanks for the kind words @Celal

I’m still a beginner and learning every day from the generous seniors on this forum. For this particular trade I executed on the H4 timeframe, but before pulling the trigger I always check the higher timeframe trend on D1 and W1 to make sure I’m trading with the bigger picture.

Honestly, I got a bit lucky, as Oil retraced sharply after my entry, This shows how critical timely exits are. A winner can quickly turn into a loser if one don’t lock in profits or adjust stops. For this particular trade I set TP and SL and was not monitoring the trade.

I’m now focusing on refining my exit rules (trailing stops, partial takevprofits,) to capture more of the move without giving it back.

Still a work in progress, but each lesson counts.

You're welcome!

It may have failed simply because the market decided to go up OR there could be one or more reasons as to why the trade failed - such as:

1. There could be numerous reasons why, or maybe just one, for example: the time of the day.

2. 5 minute time frames are notoriously difficult to day trade successfully.

3. The XAUUSD is considered to be a volatile pair to day trade - NOT a good idea unless you are REALLY good it.

4. Crossover Trades (entering the way you did) don't have a 'high" win rate, but they can be "highly" profitable given the right conditions.

5. Etc., Etc., Etc.

I would suggest you start day trading (if you must) the EURUSD or the GBPUSD, at least until you get good at day trading (and realize that that may never happen).

I would suggest you switch to a higher time to day trade (if you must) such as the 15 or 30 min. chart.

I would suggest you study "Market Structure".

I would suggest you ONLY trade Continuation Trades, and only in the direction of a higher time frame - one that is 3-6 times higher than the chart you are trading.

I would suggest you remove the "150 HMA and 200 EMAs" from your chart.

I would suggest you "learn" to accept that even perfect trading set-ups fail sometimes.

I would suggest you read this book: "Thinking in Bets" by Annie Duke

I could go on and on, BUT, finally, I would suggest you ingrain this into your brain: Once you are in a trade, the only thing that you can really control is the size of your loss... and even then, there's no guarantee of that. But that's a HUGE reason why I succeed at trading. I NEVER have large losses when day trading, and if I have 3 losses in a row, typically, I quit for the day...because "something is off".

Don't beat yourself because of a few losing trades.

Follow the OP @RobinHood' posts and his advice in post #10,695 above.
It also important that you read, study and learn from the two pdfs "Best of Big E" in post #1 here.

I trade Gold XAUUSD on the Daily chart timeframe and would take trades in the lower timeframes usually 1Hr during the day.
Yesterday was the month-end and many things can happen like every other day.

If you must trade Gold XAUUSD, then do it with the usual top down approach Monthly>Weekly>Daily>4Hr. This top down approach has kept me out of trouble for many years trading only the Daily and trade once-per-day. You need 'iron-clad' discipline to win big in this game. It is very much a money management game we play all the time.

On a very good day like last week Jun 27, I closed two batches of trades . The market paid me my June bonus.

Taking trades on M30 but always follow the Daily will enable smaller initial stop loss hence better risk-to-reward.

I'm curious about your order execution when you drop down to the smaller timeframes (if you still do this for confirmation, I'll admit, I'm not quite through all 535 pages yet). I know the protocol for the original template is the stop below the low/high of two bars back, but is this on the HTF or LTF?

My interest comes from the size of the size on the HTF, it would seem to be very difficult to reach a 1:1 target with some initial testing. Which makes me wonder if you are setting those stops on the LTF instead?

I've been bouncing this around through Tradingview, and may have a template to release to you all here when it's ready, but it won't have exactly the same setup as the MT4 template, but it's close, and utilizes some cool multi time frame stochastics, candle markers, combined MAs, etc (thanks Claude!).

My consideration was to evaluate on a 4HR timeframe, find the confirmation that I am looking for, and then drop into the 5MIN and wait for a second signal confirmation and enter with the stop as prescribed on the 5MIN, then managing the trade on either the 4HR or Daily chart. This isn't specifically what I'd like to be doing, but it would seem to me that this would be the only way to not have enormous stops.

To be clear however, I realize that with this method, there is more than one way to exit, so the trade itself can/should be exited if the sentiment changes, so the larger stop is more than likely not to get hit before another signal tells you to get out.

Again, full disclosure, I have read maybe 1/3 of this thread, and I'm working through it as I can, but if ya got a few minutes, love to hear your thoughts!

Stop placements are very subjective for me. 1 bar back, 2 bars back, 3 bars back, time of day, the most recent swing high or swing low, etc. And yes, on the time frame that you entered on.

I am WAY more concerned with HOW MUCH I LOSE if I am wrong, than ANYTHING else, so visually on every trade I take, I know going in where my exit/Stop is going to be if I am wrong. Sometimes it can feel like you are "dying by a thousand cuts" but I am okay with that. While NO TRADER likes losing trades, it's just part of the game if you are going to be successful at trading.

I spent quite a bit of time with a guy who was featured in the book "Market Wizards" who is worth billions of dollars he made from trading and he taught me that he only uses one pattern to enter his trades, and WHY, and it's what he calls a "coil" which is an "old timers" term but most traders now call it a Triangle and he taught me his concept of why he trades this way...and it makes perfect sense to me. I don't want to explain it in full detail because I don't think that "most" traders should trade the same way that he does as he only position trades and with VERY LARGE size. In fact, back in the 90's we both were trading Coffee Futures and my broker told me that this guy "controlled" like 1/2 of the coffee market. Whether that was true or not, I really don't know.

He told me "I want to be right right now, or I don't want to be in the market".

BTW, he wasn't a billionaire back then, he was only worth about $200 million. LOL!

Thanks RH, that's incredibly helpful and makes a lot of sense.

When you were trading those 4 hour bars, I think you mentioned that you'd drop down to the 5 or 1 min chart to enter? Are you looking for the same signal/entry criteria that you are looking for on the HTF bars? And if so, how long would you let yourself wait for the confirmation before the entry became stale? Was that dependant on how far along the continuation or crossover was on the HTF chart?

I know you've said at least a few times that you have no interest in looking at charts all day (nor do I), so I'm curious how you managed this part of the entries as I've seen what appear to be entry confirmations on the LTF after a signal on the HTF, but they take some time to develop.
