It's been 5 years since I've been with this system. Is Mr. RobinHood still healthy? I find that this system is used for assets that have a strong tendency to follow the trend very well. However, I still haven't found a way to handle sideways market times? Do you have any advice? And do you use this system for indices like SP500 and US30? It's been a long time since I've seen you back! Thank you for the system

Another 2R using this method.

You're welcome!!

If you look at my profile it says:

"The absolute best trading advice that I could give someone is to buy the resumption of a STRONG up trend after the first pull-back. And vice-versa for short trades"

That is the definition of a Continuation Trade.

You can't avoid losing trades, but you can avoid many sideways markets by only trading during strong trends, and if it starts getting choppy or going sideways, then just get out.

I trade or have traded almost everything, and I use the same exact methods whenever possible. Meaning, on different platforms not everything I use is always available so I have to adapt to each platform.

Something to keep in mind is: "The truth is always the truth". So whatever works on one thing should work on everything, otherwise you are constantly having to adapt and make changes. And that typically will always cost you time and money.

That's right! Just as you preached, I kept your trading system and followed, observed, and evaluated each trade. Currently it works well with assets like Gold, BTC and JPY pairs because they tend to be long and durable so continuation trades often give me 2R or more. I'm currently testing the SP500 and US30 thank you
GJ will probably give us an entry according to the rules now. Let's see!

I'm currently testing the stock scanner on TradingView for long day trades, mainly based on EMAs for a day trade going long (will experiment later for potential swings and daytrade shorts). I've attached a screenshot of the current configuration (any input is welcome). I'm impressed by how fast I can generate a watchlist from this and find potential setups. I'm going to focus on continuation trades for now

Here is what I hope will be some of some help to you.

When swing trading (trades I hold overnight or longer):

1. After my scanner shows me potential stocks to trade LONG only (based SOLEY on potential Continuation Trades), I go to Yahoo Finance and look at the data and the news (to see if there is any relatively new news) regarding that stock.

2. MOST OFTEN, I only trade stocks that are between $2ish and $20ish. My premise is that a stock in that range has a lot better chance of going way up much more quickly than higher priced stocks. Although, a few months back I position traded a penny stock that I had 50,000 shares of (because I was convinced that it would eventually go way up, and one morning I woke up and I was up over $20k on it and so I cashed out when it came back down to $17k. The stock was called WBUY.

3. If I like what I see on Yahoo Finance, I look at the stock on a Daily chart AND a Weekly chart (side-by-side). If either one of them don't align correctly (meaning the EMA's), I don't usually trade it. But I do break that rules sometimes. I mean what trader never breaks his/her rules??

4. After I buy a stock, I place my stop just below the most recent swing low, and then I move it up as the trade progresses up (if it does).

Day Trading Stocks

1. When day trading, and just for the hell of it, I do mostly the same things as above, BUT what's MOST important to me is that a stock has a "catalyst" such as a earnings surprise, or some type of good news ON THAT DAY. And, that it is one of the highest percent gainers that morning, like from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

2. I mostly only day trade from 7 a.m. to 11a.m.-ish (New York time). This is VERY, VERY important, in fact, for me, it's critical.

3. I want to see the Float be under 20 million-ish shares.

4. I want to see the Relative Volume to be at least 5 times higher than normal.

*Low Float and high Relative Volume = Small Supply and Large Demand. It's like stocking up on bread and milk just before a snow storm. High Volume = Lots of Liquidity, (which means that it's easy to get in and out of).

5. I want the stock to GAP UP at least 10% or more that day, and the higher the better.

6. I prefer to only trade the front side of the move. That means I don't want to trade the stock after it has had a large retracement.

7. I don't ever short these types of stocks because they can go "limit up" and you can't get out, whereas a Long position can only go to zero.

I don't always adhere to the all of the rules above, but ideally, that's what I'd most like to see.

@RobinHood Thank you for sharing, agree they can be a bit slow when day trading, however, I find them useful when swing trading. The EMA roadmap is a simple but truly useful guide. Happy Trading!

Nice scanning settings FlyingCat, would these setting alert you to a continuation trade? I mean would they alert you as your fast MA crosses back over the others to be on top again signalling a continuation?

I basically want to screen for this condition to be true EMA8 > EMA21 > EMA34 > EMA50 > EMA200. So the stock screener will give me a list of stocks and I can filter them further (float size, relative volume, ...). My idea is to select ~3-4 stocks in conjunction with some catalyst and then plot them on my screen so I can await the EMA3 to dip into the EMAs and turn back for my entry continuation signal.

I believe that it's technically possible to add alerts in TradingView scanner, but I won't use that option for now.

BTW: I’m super inspired by the idea of RobinHood’s EMA strategy on stocks! It’s actually the exact kind of system I was considering 8 years ago, but I talked myself out of using it because it seemed way too simple at the time. Now, seeing how effective it can be, I’m eager to give it a try and see where it takes me.
To start, I plan to keep things on a small account and manageable. Most likely, I’ll focus on European markets (since I'm from the Netherlands) and also to avoid the PDT restrictions and stay in a space that feels more accessible as I refine my approach.

I only day traded one stock today which is called: TPET, and now I am done day trading for the day as I typically quit at around 11 a.m. when possible.

I am showing the image below from my trading account to be transparent about my trades, and to show that what I am teaching everyone actually works.

Thanks RobinHood, learning lots from you. I just need t get a stock screen setup and configured then i can get started trading again. Looking at TC2000 or TradingView a the moment, both have similar costs, have you screened stocks on both and would you recommend one over the other?

The same as FlyingCat, i want want to screen for EMA8 > EMA21 > EMA34 > EMA50 > EMA200. So I can filter them further (float size, relative volume, ...). Then wait the EMA3 to dip into the EMAs and turn back for my entry continuation signal.

TradingView is by far more popular and I use it sometimes because it shows me things that TC2000 does not, such as Cryptos, Futures and Commodities, BUT I much prefer using TC2000 because I find it way more visually pleasing.

Also, you should be coding the 3 ema in with the other 5 ema's. Look to the far right on the image below and you will see 2 green checkmarks, that is telling me a Continuation trade has happened within the last X number of bars (I think I used within the last 10 candles). I have also attached the 2 charts that it is pointing out.

Thanks RobinHood, how do you know a continuation will happen within a set number of bars? I understand setting the scanner to only show stocks that meet the moving average setup, but how do you then filter that one of them will very soon become a continuation trade?

It is telling me that a Continuation set-up already happened within the last 2 bars (not 10 as I thought since I just looked). It's looking backwards.

So basically what you do is to tell it that when all of the ema's have aligned correctly as in: 3>8>21>34>55>200 then you tell it IF/WHEN the 3 has dipped inside of the 8, and/or the 21, and/or the 34 but stays above the 55 and the 3 has resumed back up through the 8,...because THAT IS a Continuation Trade.

Here's the most basic PART of the code that I wrote in TC2000 EasyScan:

(C > XAVGC3) AND (XAVGC3 < XAVGC8) AND (XAVGC8 > XAVGC21) AND (XAVGC3 > XAVGC55) AND (XAVGC8 > XAVGC55) AND (XAVGC21 > XAVGC55)

*Note: It does not always work as perfectly as I would like it to, but that's where me visually seeing the chart after I get a signal comes in.

ALSO NOTE: I also add in many other variables as filters, such as: price history above X, Volume > X, EPS > X, which exchanges to include, etc.

I don't want to give away all of my criteria as I have had people on numerous occasions start selling my codes as their own.

I was watching a YouTube video and the guy is teaching the RoadMap that I created, and someone was/is selling the RHO on another platform.

I totally understand your hesitation about sharing all the details—it's frustrating when others take credit for the hard work and even more a shame of those people reselling or teaching your system.
