DislikedConsidering that you weren't being addressed in the post, SL, I don't know how in the hell as simple a statement as 850>500 caused such a lengthy post on ATR and stop size- it appeared to me that Jacko was merely stating that 850 is greater than 500, and that multiplying that difference between the two time the number of contracts would have increased his earnings by the proportionate amount. Why that simple statement triggered such an outpouring of dreck on your part, I don't know, but welcome to my ignore list.Ignored
1. This is a public thread in a public forum. Opinions and information are exchanged freely and without censorship as long as abiding the rules. I saw - this is my personal perception - jacko needlessly making the assumption he was "missing out" and explained why this needn't be so.
2. I pointed out how using the SAME amount of RISK can make more money with less pips. I know what jacko meant, but my point was about the profitability at fixed risk, not fixed stake / lot size. It's obvious that using the same fixed amount of lots per pip that more pips make more money.
3. If a simple example of risk based money management - which to me was quite an enlightment when I first read and realized this - that serves as a way to optimize profit is cause for personal distress, I apologize.
It wasn't my intent to cause panic. Rather I was - as jacko always says and I love him for it - just trying to help
And ironic that I would be perceived as causing insult and therefore accused of false address when the person feeling insulted wasn't even the one I was trying to reach with my explanation
Also quite odd how outlinging an optimization of making as much money as possible is dreck. Perhaps our aims differ in this trading environment.
Take care,

P.S. The "Why?" was meant as in "why kick yourself / punish yourself if you haven't done anything wrong" -> then why I think there's really not that much of a difference in money to be made there if that sort of sizing is used
