Let me give a push to this thread by starting with my own experience.

I am reading posts on forex forums for many years, but yet to find a person who traded the way I used to trade. In many years of demo trading I noticed a phenomenon that pa reacts to time element. I prepared a clock based on price behavior. The observation for each hour was something like that:

If price goes in one direction it keeps on going in that particular direction in first 25 minutes of the hour. Then it goes in the opposite direction from minute 26 to 30. From minute 31 to 40 it again goes in the same direction. But from minute 41 to 50 it again goes in the opposite direction. Most of the time it goes in the same direction from minute 51 to 60 and continues going in that direction until minute 25 of the next hour. However, if it starts going in the opposite direction from minute 51 to 55, it reverses its direction and that opposite direction becomes the direction of pa.

I showed this phenomenon to a friend. We both agreed to put $20,000 each to start an account with $40,000. We then decided to make it $2,000 each but finally started an account with $400 ($200 each). In first three months we gained 98%, our $400 account was now $792. Based on our calculation we were eyeing at $53 million in a period of 6 years. We showed this progress to one guy. He wanted to join us with $1 million. But he wanted a 20% pm return, which was not possible for us to guarantee and therefore we denied this proposal. After one year, I and my friend closed that $400 account splitting 42 cents each.

Thats why im trying to understand Gann's studies. I mean i already know WHERE the psychological levels of the market are, but when are they going to occur is still the mystery. Now, i know NO ONE knows exactly when a change in trend/reversal might happen, but a zone would be more likely.

Gann used astrology in his trading, and his fans, he used to draw em out on his chart with pencil. The whole chart was pencil drawn as well. Fibonacci Time zones has proven well, but not well enough. Well, nothing in this world is just well enough to be called well is it? Thats too much well. As the name says it is a zone. Not necessarily a point. Neither is gann's method, so I am always open to this sort of ideas.

Anyways, i think my step of learning forex of WHERE is done, now i need to know zones of WHEN. Its easy waiting for something, its another when you know when might things happen.

Chicky can u please go more in-depth about the minutes thing? Is that a simple average of the movement of a certain pair/instrument?

Buma, its my nature never to surrender. It may surprise you but truth is that I paid off my friend his share of 42 cents and continuted with that account with a revised target of $100,000 but with a new method. I still logon to that account two to three times a week.

Because of my non-surrendering nature, I did a postmortem of that phenomenon and found out that it is not each hour but certain hours 1) Frankfurt open, 2) London Open, 3) Tokyo Close, 4) NY Open, 5) London Close, 6) Tokyo Open.

Few minutes before these hours pa tries to install near a key level and when market opens, direction becomes more clear. Like at London Close, some profit taking occurs. Few minutes after this profit taking, pa moves in NY direction. But again anytime from 2:30 pm (NY time) to NY Close, market prepares for Asia/London open pa installing again near a key level.

I still sometimes get direction from what happens after minute 51.

Same here chicks, i have a somewhat connection to the fact of not giving up. Its from my dad's blood probably.

Yes, i have noticed that as well, and merged it with my analysis as a sort of expectation of what each session might bring.

Its still too broad. Its really logical, but i still want the overlooked topics. Astrology. Gann. Fibonacci, while everyone looks for ea's, and cheat indicators that 'reveal future movement'.

ill show you what crap im talking about. I never used it, it came with some package from this site, when i was a newbie. as interesting as it gets, i dont even bother to touch it. It feels like so much taint to me as a trader. It feels too speculative, that you forget price itself and its unique movements.

This afternoon I had lunch with a guy who has invested a couple of hundred thousand dollars in stock market. He is not a trader but an investor. He has a very simple logic and style which made a lot of sense. There are no tps or sls or whatever technicals. He invests when condtions are right. If conditions go bad he liquidates his investment and re-invests again when conditions improve. His profit/loss varies from 15% to 20% per in and out but ins and outs are not based on any % of gain or loss just the economic condtions in general. That's all and he is happy with his progress.

You can trade stocks that way, and forex and every other market out there like that. I have comfort knowing i can visually see what price is actually doing. Nice you know rich dudes. You must be rich as well

LOL. Everybody has a different trading philosophy and style.

It all depends what's your definition of rich. Being wealthy is more important than just being rich. A person with money is only rich, but a person with health, education, knowledge, honesty, good character and values, regardless of amount of money in his/her possession is wealthy. All my friends are wealthy.

Dont worry im not that dumb kid who thinks wealth is only money. I have heard it thousand times in motivational books, and documentaries. That money is not the whole fractal-piece of one's wealth.
