Interesting! Out of curiosity I ran the EA on EURUSD,M15 with default settings, but I don't think I see that behavior. Is there a setting I need to adjust to enable this, or is this not yet implemented in the EA?

If I'm not mistaken, that version can only switch once (from buys to sells if buys are open, and from sells to buys if sells are open).

Definitely share your results and if you have any suggestions.

Ok. If I run the EA on EURUSD,M15 Dukascopy with default settings, I get the following equity curve (at 1:500 leverage, 100k starting balance):

The deep drawdowns scare me. I looked at one of them. The drawdown at 2020-06 was caused by a long trend:

The EA kept on selling even though the trend was clearly bullish. This is the behavior I was referring to earlier in post #3. Most grid EAs keep digging in deeper and deeper until either price reverses or the broker gives a margin call.

I have played around with averaging down strategies that open up to 3 trades before giving up. You could see that as a mini-grid with only 3 levels. I can live with the ugly sawtooth equity curves of averaging down strategies, but grids scare me. These things keep on digging in deeper and deeper. It is like going "all in" at the poker table. Bet the farm!

So my suggestion would be to add some way to prevent limitless digging in deeper and deeper. Limit the maximum level of the grid, or limit the maximum drawdown percentage, or limit the maximum duration of a basket. Etc. Etc.

Also, your grid seems to trade mean-reverting. Consider trading symbols that are more ranging in nature than EURUSD. For example AUDCAD. Or trade a synthetic hedge of a few symbols that combined together are ranging. Also, you could use channels, Williams R%, etc. to see where in the range the price currently is and only trade the mean reversion when price is near the end of the current range. Of course you still risk a breakout, but at least the entry is better than just random.

Thanks for your insights and suggestions!! Right before the long leg up, noticed the initial trades of that set were buys. Then it switched to sells once the markets pushed down. Unfortunately, that version of the Basket can only trend switch once, which is why it wasn't able to buy during that strong uptrend; something that was fixed in a later version.

It's still awesome to see that even with the 1 trend switch it was able to survive. Looks like 20% drawdown and almost 25% gain in 6 years.

correct brother ,,,

if first buy then when colour change ,, after make profit ,,,line colour change means ,,, trend changed ,,, so ,,, buy order booked profit ,,, then fresh sell

you should follow the arrow like your picture

Well, truthfully, I love fundamentals. Most of my profit in forex has come from trading the news.

But once I add the closing options you suggested (https://www.forexfactory.com/thread/...1#post15000231), I'll start forward testing with the advisor. I also have a few other systems that I use regularly.

I'm always thankful for your insights man. They've helped me brainstorm some ideas.

Just a quick technical note: InpGridMultiplier is not working correctly. It only considers the initial trade to calculate the lotsize instead of the sum of open lots. That results in equal lotsizes for all subsequent trades.

Thanks for testing and for your feedback.

The multiplier wasn’t designed to set the next grid trade’s volume as the sum of open lots, but rather as the previous trade’s volume multiplied by the inpGridMultiplier input.

But exactly that is not happening as far as it seems. It only considers the initial trade volume and leaves out subsequent trades for the calculation, like OrderSelect is counting in the wrong direction or is not using MODE_TRADES.

I see, which grid setting are you using, and what's the account balance?
