just my suspicion:

the brics countries no longer trust the western monetary system. they therefore no longer want to hold USD, GBP or EUR.

so they buy gold to create their own SWIFT system and no longer have to hold reserves in the no longer trustworthy ‘western’ currencies (of which the yen is also a part).

thus this money is missing for volatility in GU&EU&other pairs.

I hope you are wrong... sure, Gold Vola would go up but there will be much less trade oppurtunities on lots of currency pairs which will not compensate the loss of volatility.

daily GU: look at the daily spikes/wicks and both closed below the two 200 EMA/SMA or TL...

He could start with Micro Futures - SP500 $5 per point movement.
Ninja Trader brokers, among many others , offer them, often with $50 margin BUT you would be wise to start with a minimum account size of about £1000.
