slow stochastic

Would someone show me where I can get a slow stochastic indicator. I would like to have these inputs on the indicator. High low close, stochastic L 15, smoth L 1, 3, smoth L 2, 3, smoth type 1, OB 80, OS 20. I am with FXDD I am not sure if there stochastic indicator on MT4 is fast or slow. The stochastic indicator on my MT4 will not allow you to change the inputs to the ones I want above. I would appreciate help in this matter.

1. fast stochastic employs a trigger line (%D) that is an X-period SMA of the stochastic (%K), where X is generally set to 3. Both %K and %D are plotted;
2. while slow stochastic first smoothes ("slows") %K by applying a Y-period SMA (also usually 3), and plots this, then applies the X-period SMA to the end result, to give the trigger line.

MT4's Stochastic oscillator has three parameters: %K period, slowing and %D period, allowing fast, slow and full stochastics to be plotted.

Hence I would assume that (for example):
If you want to plot a fast 15 period stochastic, set %K=15, slowing=1, %D=3.
If you want to plot a slow 15 period stochastic, set %K=15, slowing=3, %D=3.

I am guessing, but I expect what you describe as "smooth type 1" represents an SMA, so I would set MT4's MA method to "Simple". If you don't get the same result as FXDD, try the other options.

I would set the "Price Field" to High/Low instead of Close/Close. Here's why:

As far as I can tell, High/Low uses the following formula to calc %K:
100 x (Recent Close - Lowest Low*) / (Highest High* - Lowest Low*)
[* for the last N periods, where N is the %K parameter]

whereas Close/Close uses the following formula to calc %K:
100 x (Recent Close - Lowest Close*) / (Highest Close* - Lowest Close*)

You can enter/adjust the OB/OS lines (e.g. 80,20) to whatever you wish, under the Levels tab.

Sorry, I don't know FXDD's formula, but hopefully by experimenting with MT4's parameters, you should be able to obtain the same result.

A slow stoch does indeed have smoothing applied via a moving average on the main line. I had to review/create something similiar for a recent consultantion since metatrader doesn't come with one "out of the box".

I beg to differ. On this particular occasion MT4 happens to deliver in spades.
