I was having the same issue when I first started posting on FF, I could not create my own thread/journal so I emailed FF and got the following response... I did what Twee mentioned in his/her email and after a few days of posting I became a standard member and managed to create my own thread, hope this helps.

To be granted membership as a standard member, one must post mindfully, intelligently and contribute with value, to existing threads or news, with Finance/Forex/Trading relevance!
