is it an Elliott count ?

you will never "narrow down discussions to just cycles theory".

First reason is that is not what you can see at various degrees on all threads dedicated to cycles or waves - historically and up to date. Hurst would use the term "observational analysis".

The second, and much more important reason , is that Cycles and Waves are intimately bound in the writings of all people who have published on the subject. and for your concern Hurst and Elliott.

cycle theory is in itself an ambiguous wording because already E.R. Dewey wrote as soon as 1957 that "Cycle Analysis"should in fact be labeled "Rythm Analysis ...... in his book "How to to make a Cycle Analysis"

Hurst in his Cyclitec Course (1.500 pages) uses more than 5.000 times the word Waves - 3 times per page on average, much more than Cycle, cyclic or cyclical. Much more significant in his 36 pages booklet "Cyclic Analysis" Hurst defines his work and research as "The Wave Theory of Price Action" https://discord.com/assets/567230faa...3630597049.svg
Similarly R.N. Elliott in his first article (23 pages) summarizing his theory " The Wave Principle" used something like 100 times the words Cycle, cyclic and cyclical - 4 times per page on average - and 20 times the word "rythm" without defining what a Cycle or a Rythm are, No more than a "wave" for that matter.
Let's quote Hurst himself " The relationship between past and future prices is found to be complex and nonlinear. Current simplified models represent price movement as consisting of a linear combination of wave functions with specific and consistent interrelationships. This viewpoint has led to the development of the Wave Theory of Price Action.

Hence both Elliott and Hurst showed us Current simplified models representing price movement as consisting of a linear combination of wave functions with specific and consistent **interrelationships

USDCNH (Chinese Renminbi) limited upside - 19 April 2023

40 day cycle peak due
1. Despite a punchy looking breakout so far today, the cycles analysis suggests that it will be short lived and start falling again soon.
2. The low on 14 April was that of a 20 day cycle trough - this is confirmed because the 10 day VTL (valid trendline) as well as the 20 day FLD have been penetrated to the upside.
3. A 40 day cycle trough is due around the beginning of May, which means that we need a 40 day cycle peak to occur before then.
The peak circles at the top of the chart show that we are in the zone now and the 20 day FLD cross points to around 6.93.
4. The preferred view is a push into the upper blue target box and then a sharp drop into the lower blue target box.

Don't forget "cute" , "old fashioned", long forgotten", "better than having no plan".

I'm happy to sit back and make a good living using these "outdated" and "obsolete" methods
