Hi all,
First I'd like to thank sahamdarjoz for this thread. It happened to be
the first thread I read on this great Forum. I'm still learning about
Forex and last week, I'd never tried MT4 nor seen MQL4 scripts.
Thanks to the posts by metto and others with some basic examples,
I found other resources on the web and put something together,
and downloaded MT4 from NorthFinance and later from InterbankFX.
(No endorsement implied).
The script is actually quite involved, however, I wouldn't say it's a
great script yet. It needs some help from someone who knows
much more about programming in MQL4 than I do. I have a technical
background, but I'm still just a hacker at scripts. However, it's
still useful (to me anyway), and I learned a lot putting it together,
which was the main benefit to me.
The scripts features:
* Displays up to 4 trading sessions. Typically you would choose just 2.
* The min and max for each session are displayed with session rectangle(s).
* Sunday delimiters are displayed so you can "feel" the price history better.
* There are off-hour min/max lines, plus SL, 10% and 20% lines displayed.
(I liked what metto coded for lines, but the histograms -- while good --
tended to obscure the candles and shadows/tails).
* You can move the cursor over the lines to see pip values (Press F8
to turn on "Show Object Descriptions" (unless it happens to work
already like it does for me).
* You can right-click over the lines to access indicator properties easily.
* Session hours are by GMT so they need not change unless you
disagree with the somewhat subjective choice of hours. I followed
the hours sahamdarjoz used for his charts.
* The user can easily set a DST_GMT_Offset_Hour variable to conform
to your MT4 platform/broker settings. NorthFinance is "2", whereas
InterbankFX is "-1". I have no idea how much this varies. Set it once,
compile it that way and you're good to go. Calibrate using the very
first chart sahamdarjoz posted in the thread (GBPJPY on April 18th).
* You can turn on/off various displays by either variable, or hard-coding
the variable default. So, if you turn off DrawHiLoLines, this tool is a
handy Sessions indicator, regardless if you use the Sedona method or not.
(I found other session indicators, but I got so very lost trying to line up
the GMT's, my head was spinning. The DST_GMT_Offset_Hour is
a nice feature). Also note, several other session indicators were
offset by a candle as far as calculating min/max. I believe mine is
working correctly.
The main enhancements/bug_fixes needed:
* I just don't get how to have the Hi/Lo lines keep drawing real-time!
I would appreciate some help.
* If the last candle was min/max, the HiLo lines must recalculate, so you
May see sharp angle HiLo lines by the last candle.
* Read the script to see a long list of enhancements and bug_fixes I've
thought about. Again, I need programming help.
* It would be nice to add RSI(9,Open) and EMA(62,Open), and along
with that, do some selective display of the SL/10/20 lines. If there's no
RSI 70/30 crossing, then one could suppress the high or low 10/20/SL
lines very easily. (I would still suggest to display the HiLo lines).
* I know nothing about EA's. What would an EA look like for the Sedona
method? (EA = Expert Advisor, and I didn't even know that last week!)
* Do you like the color-scheme?
I hope my cut-and-pasting scripts was not a breach in protocol, but
if so, someone please enlighten me. Credit is given to the authors of
other scripts that "inspired" (educated?) me. I also found the site
http://docs.mql4.com to be very helpful for syntax questions.
Please let me know if this is good... or just crap. I'd rather learn
from others than get defensive about such a trivial thing. I do
have an ego, though, so be nice.
Sahamdarjoz... nice GBPJPY finish today. It was looking bleak for a
long time there. Also, since very early on, there were opportunities
to sell all 3 lots closer to the High line, would you do that or wait
and see and later pick up the 10% and 20% lots? (Why wait is what
I'm guessing would be the answer...)

Everything closed at 238.68 or so. Thus we made: +2, +13 and +24 pips (including 6 pips of spread)
We leave no soldier behind.
