Are you still confused Vincent????
- TDI is not in the winning edge equation.
(Must have been drinking to much eggnog)

You typed this also
- TDI as your helping indicator for such trades.
- You can consider DM' Fast TDI setting
- use that TDI Red Green version. These are in Post#25.

Good Morning Everyone... Thanks for all of your posts and help. This thread is about The Craig Harris Method really using the TDI as a helping indicator to guide us for entries & exits to completion. This thread is about The Craig Harris Method really using the TDI as a helping indicator to guide us for entries & exits to completion.

For anyone who knows me... you know I'm always testing, tweeking, etc. to find improvements.

Well, the other day I added the Synergy channel on my 15 minute charts (5 SMA/Hi & 5 SMA/Lo) doing some more testing. What I discovered was by blending the two methods together... One is always confirmation for the other.

Sometimes the Synergy makes the entry call first and sometime Craigs makes the entry call first.

But I ALWAYS stick to the Tokyo Channel 40+ pip range if I'm using Craigs method. For day trading you might want to lean heavier on Synergy. You decide by studying charts back 1-3 months.

As stated above... it's a blending to give you the best chance for success.

================================================

some key takeaways from the OP of this thread

I think the above post#202 is good advice for those who have been trying and still not able to make money trading with Big E' 5-Method.

Give yourself another chance in 2023 and make sure you make that important transition to trade the 4hr and Daily , #281.

Hey Folks

Remember this post#6 above, we trade the 5-Method in 2023.

If anyone here still confused what the 5-Method is , then follow the OP' posts and start reading his old thread and taking notes .

Not entirely true Korosh.
Angle of TDI green (12/2 > trade, 2/4 > no trade, 4/6 trade) is the key to this method with Stoch confirming the direction.
BigE switched his computer on/off so he looked at a refreshed chart every time he checked the charts. So refresh the charts before you start with post#647.
Make your own checklist Post 84,947 to help you trade.
Price Action you mean this Post 126,715.

Don't be a bonehead like me and argue with what the chart's / TDI / Stoch is showing you.
Follow TDI and you will do good by yourself.

don't bother with these rubbish posted -------
It is these little things that Vincent does not want you to know.

When I check my charts... I look to the TDI... then PA. If I'm not feeling strong about a current in progress trade... get out then and keep the pips... you don't have to wait for the next candle to exit. Grab your money and run to a new trade............
If the TDI straight green line tweaks it's angle... pay close attention... check everything... it's warning you something has changed or is about to..
The TDI is at a 4 o'clock angle...on the next candle the TDI green line drops to a 5 o'clock angle.... TDI looks good with Stochs confirming...
When checking out the TDI for a possible trade: Think of a wall clock here and it's arms... you want to see the green line for a long trade at the 12-2 angle for best results and a short trade at a 4-6 angle... This is basic 4x stuff... Don't try to read things into the TDI just so you can get into a trade...
If the green line looks like it's at a 2-4 angle... it's weak. Pass on it.
This holds true for PA too for best results...
#647.......
How does the momentum look right now (12-2, 4-6)
The first possible candle I see to enter on is vertical line #3... however the Green TDI line is pointed at a 3:30 to a very weak 4 o'clock angle which would keep me out personally. Vertical line #4 is a solid TDI entry... just my personal analysis....

Introduction to Trading Made Simple

To learn what Trading Made Simple is, you have to follow the trading journey of the OP eelfranz aka Big E. He started as a newbie in 2008. Know the history and you will learn a lot from the OP and when you have mastered the 5-Method, you can then move on and develop your own trading system following how he did his. Many traders have moved on to trade their own systems.

Trading Made Simple for beginners : Post#52,707

A short history by pioneer member snarlyjack Post#110

Our late OP eelfranz aka Big E spent 6,000 hours: Post#6 and he evolved as a trader and went on and developed two trading methods.
5-Method and 21/233 Method Post#3018, Post#4104,

After months of postings and answering many frequently asked questions FAQs,
eelfranz made the jump to this new Trading Made Simple thread on 26 April 2011... Post#4432

In Post#1, he explained how he traded the H4 chart timeframe and he also traded the H1 chart during the NY session. This suited his lifestyle being retired and the time zone he lived. Sadly he passed away in Oct 2012.

Two very important posts: Post#261 and Post#647, give a simple summary of what this 5-Method is and the basic forex stuff we check before we look for the TDI setups to trade.

TMS 5-Method Basic Rules: Post#53,841
Always check the #1- Price Action first, then #2- TDI Post#3142
Big E wanted us to build this TMS thread together... Post#4,432

The original indicators and template Post#25
When you are overwhelmed (information overload) by the number of posts and the loads of information and variations shared by other traders here, the best thing to do is to stop reading and go back to the basics what Big E mentioned in his 463 posts in this thread and 861 posts in the CHS thread. First you learn and master the 5-Method first before you start add your own tweaks and make a new system.

Recommendations:
Read all of Big E posts... 861posts in the Craig Harris Stochastics thread and 463 posts in this TMS thread....and make notes on those training charts he posted. Pay attention whenever he mentioned PA and what you see on his training charts.

Learn the basic stuff about forex trading first. A good place to start is www.babypips.com/school

If you want to trade the way Big E described in Post#1, make sure you use his template , the Synergy APB / HA candles and use that TDI Red Green version. These are in Post#25.

Important to Note that the TDI Red Green version repaints all the bars in history so you cannot use this when you do back-testing by scrolling back your charts. The better way is to run this in live market and trade the TMS setups based on what you see without refreshing your charts. When you want to trade with entries on the APB#1 and APB#2 candles, always wait for the price bar/candle to close and use the TDI to confirm the setup.

Big E was a rule-based discretionary trader. According to studies by Dr Van K Tharp this rule-based discretionary are the best traders,

Enjoy and Have fun during your learning journey...

Do you know this Post#2617 on how to achieve higher success...

<>
2scoops asked me a long time ago what would be the most beneficial to learning this method for higher success... The answer was simple... study old charts for set ups... now strip down everything on that chart at that point... trends, angles, S/R levels, News times, Stoch angle within the 20-80 lines..etc. Burn it into your memory... I spent 2 years doing that.... so what does that mean?

It takes me 15 seconds to strip a chart down to nothing including the TDI & Stoch's. Taking clean trades is a breeze for me... why?

Read above...

I can take you to water but I can't make you drink... follow the simple entry & exit rules. Forget other indicators. I went down those roads so you wouldn't have too...

There is a handful who trade it correctly here who are rewarded nicely...

It takes me 15 seconds to strip a chart down to nothing including the TDI & Stoch's.

Last chart posted have these indicators:
1. EMA
2. EMA
3. APB candle
4. ATR
5. Timer

What a joke. Nothing means nothing. No indicators whatsoever.
----------
By the way, there is a error in Post 137,316
> Always check the #1- Price Action first, then #2- TDI Post#3142
(Wonder why Vincent even bother to mention TDI, after all according to him TDI is not in the winning edge equation).

That is from the Craig Harris Stochastics Method
In Post 137,308 > We switched from there to only discuss this method in the new forum...
That means > discuss what is posted in this thread "Trading Made Simple".
#270........
I look to the TDI... then PA. If I'm not feeling strong about a current in progress trade... get out then and keep the pips... you don't have to wait for the next candle to

--------
As to Post 2,617 without TDI and Stoch on the chart's all of BigE's posts in this thread become meaningless.
Possible reason why BigE wrote " strip a chart down to nothing including the TDI & Stoch's" is that he study for 2 years TDI crossover at the candle patterns preceding those TDI signals.
However he also posted this:
The key to this method is the Traders Dynamic Index indicator for entries and exits.
We Enter a trade when green crosses red on the TDI at the beginning of that candle
Exit your trade when the green TDI line goes flat, starts to hook over or makes a check mark reversal.
The TDI is the heart of our method.

Big E : you can trade without the TDI

Jan 20, 2011

Honestly on the 5 method you don't really need any indicators because the simple entry rules are so basic and clear cut. If I were to pick two it would be the tdi & stochs.

Jan 26, 2011
#3103
I almost always have the tdi & stoch on all my charts regardless of the method being used.

However, it's not necessary on the 5 method for me. It gives people more confidence when they have it on their charts it seems.... and it's a good confirmation to the current PA and possible trade.

Feb 12, 2011
#3418
You can trade the 5 method without the TDI if it's a problem...

PA is HA Candles, PA crosses the yellow line and closes... enter on the next candle if it's the same color. When candles flatten out... exit. Stay in the trade as long as it doesn't cross back over the yellow line and close.

The TDI just gives me a lot more information for making my entries & exits decisions.
