Analysis and Trading based on Envelopes, Waves, Cycles

let's say that for me a scammer is when you pay some money to him with nothing serious in return. Most of the time it is just conscious revamping / refreshing of old theories, concepts etc modernized ,rewritten etc

If you have no knowledge of Technical Analysis history someone can sell you old theories more or less refreshed, repainted etc even in at least partly good faith (Guys honestly reinventing the wheel)

Let us focus on Gann. Gann was not a scammer, but he was not what he pretended to be and above all what the "Gann industry" has pretended he was to make money with him and his work.
First Gann was not a "trader" like you and me. His money came mostly from selling newsletters, forecasts and expensive training courses. Gann was a very astute and modern marketeer. It is his main quality.

Gann commercial system works like a funnel. a) Gann sell unexpensive books with generalities on market and trading.with teasers, attractors, sollicitors (the so called "coded" things, veiled language etc) b) if it appeals to you (there is something) you subscribe a newsletter or/ and a forecast . The trick is Gann sells you more or less the same Forecasts / Newsletters / Tools for Commodities and for Stocks. If you subscribe both you have a discount. Imagine Gann right now publishing forecasts and newsletters about Cryptos !

Additionnally to the top / bottom approach Market letters , Forecasts etc . Gann used a bottom / top approach by selling the tools he used or pretended to use to trade ( the Angles training Course) or to generate his forecasts ( ex : the Square of Nine methodology and its overlay)

The funny thing about the "Square of ...." tool is that you can split (and sell) it almost ad infinitum Square of 12, 52, 144 etc and change also the presentation Hexagon, Octagon whatever . This allows you to mix both system to confuse people and sell them an old tool as a new one

You have to note that in his books and newsletters or courses Gann promoted good advices that now are common senses : use always a Stop Loss, invest no more than 1/10 th of your capital on one stock, do not stay in a bad trade and exit soon etc. All that is now obvious and common sense even if we do not always follow them. It is why part of Gann work seems outdated. Angles as a basic tool is outdated . you have Angles or Gann tools (Boxes, squares, Fans, Lines etc) on every platform. But it is just decorative, for the show. Nobody use them on a consistent basis.May be "closet billionaires".

It very similar in some way with R.N. Elliott .Market Waves are now common sense, obvious as well as the fractalization of the Market ( Big Waves are made of litlle Waves) - impulse, corrective etc. But IMHO Elliott Waves in itself do not work as an operative trading system. IMHO It exists only a R.N. Elliott pattern, the famous 12345ABC pattern which exists , but not on a consistent basis and represents only a portion of the Market Waves. By the way, somebody here wrote me that he could leads me to 5 individuals or groups which were very profitable using EW. Up to now I am always waiting to be taught how to make money using EW by these successful "closet traders" or "closet billionaires."

As for Gann most guys make a big error. They see and judge Gann who died in 1955 with the tools and habits of 2022. Let's take an example : to be polite and conservative Gann was a very average forecaster ! Thanks to the net you can right now ask some very perturbating questions : Parisboy why have you written that the NASDAQ will reach 99.999 points on the 4 th July 2021 and Gold $ 5.555 on 9/11 2022 etc ? As Gann (and other forecasters) was alive you could not do that easily. To compare forecasts and reality You needed to have old (paying) editions of the newsletters which most people had not. Moreover If you complained in a letter to the publisher, it is not obvious that your complaint would be published in the section" mail from our readers"

In a similar way you could not compare easily the various training courses (expensive) sold by Gann about Trading Commodities and Stocks and see that the new ones were reshaping / revamping of the old ones with some cosmetic changes and some updating to be marketable. For example when Gann used and expands the concept of "campaign" as equivalent of "wave" to take into account the Elliott Wave phenomenon. Or when the (1x1) Angle becomes also a "Moving Average" when Moving Averages became fashionable in the Trading World

From time to time, it is refreshing to read posts based on common sense and experience, not some bullshit theory based on clicks and followers.

As a matter of fact, I hope most people recognize that having XXX followers has absolutely no relation with having smart followers that really undertsand what you talk or write about. No measure of followers IQ exist and for a good reason : the level would be so terribly low that it would expose the biggest scam of the Net, ie confusing multitude and knowledge

Quoting Alexander Straker about Symmetry ; Symmetry occurs where, for example, a vector ends on a 4x1 angle and the subsequent retracement squares out at the 1x4 angle (symmetrically opposite to the 4x1 angle) .

The repeated symmetrical limits of rotation are very clearly defined by the scaled angles.

This is a consistent and worthwhile edge to be aware of in the market. There are other ways to plot ‘custom’ symmetrical angles using degrees of a circle, and these can have some advantages over ratio based ones.
