Yes and No.

There are more trading and charting tools available on MT4 and MT5 which are useful and can help in your learning.

You can trade live on any broker non-MT4/MT5 and you don't need any indicators on live trading charts.

MT4 Tools like this multi-purpose TMS_v19 expert advisor which is not available in TV.

No, no MetaQuotes platforms are required. Nearly any charting platform is better than MT4/MT5.

You can do your testing on TradingView, NinjaTrader, cTrader, etc. No special indicators are required. The TDI is just moving averages of RSI. The AveragePriceBar (APB) indicator is not required. The standard Heiken-Ashi bars, for all practical purposes, yield the same information as the APBs.

The main entry rule is: green crossing red on the TDI within the first 2 candles for an entry...
The 12-2 and 4-6 is for the TDI and not the 5ema... that would just be a bonus

When TDI green and 5EMA has the same angle 12-2 / 4-6 on candle 1, 2 it will be a bonus.

At one time I used the 5ema in a different way. Back then if a candle closed across the 5ema it was the set up candle. I would enter the trade at the beginning of the next candle if it was the
same color.... and that still works... this is more conservative...
I am more aggressive now and noticed I was giving up some pips doing it that way so I changed to using the TDI candle #1 or 2 for entries.
I left it on my chart because I like to see how PA interacts with the 5ema line during the trade.
Gives me a better feel for what's going on... that's mainly the reason...

Which mean that 5EMA is only on the chart because I like to see how PA interacts with the 5ema line during the trade.

Try to download from other brokers Mac MT4.

The possibility may be that the MT4 from your broker is not compatable with your MAC OS.
or they have not updated thiere Mac MT4
or down grade the MAC OS to a previous version.

The only way to download and install the native Windows version of MT4 or MT5 on a Mac is to first install Windows on your Mac and then install the Windows version of MetaTrader. There are various ways of running Windows on a Mac but we strongly recommend using Parallels to install MT4.15 Apr 2022

You have admin right's go to the log file after the next failed attemp. That log file will show you which file's are missing or conflicting with each other

you need a reliable broker when you trade live with real money.

no need to be MT4/MT5 trading platform

if you are new and want to start learning and testing Big E' 5-Method, then MT4 is a good start and you can follow his posts and see the same chart like his charts.

Honestly on the 5 method you don't really need any indicators because the simple entry rules are so basic and clear cut. If I were to pick two it would be the tdi & stochs.

I almost always have the tdi & stoch on all my charts regardless of the method being used.

However, it's not necessary on the 5 method for me. It gives people more confidence when they have it on their charts it seems.... and it's a good confirmation to the current PA and possible trade.

You can trade the 5 method without the TDI if it's a problem...

PA is HA Candles, PA crosses the yellow line and closes... enter on the next candle if it's the same color. When candles flatten out... exit. Stay in the trade as long as it doesn't cross back over the yellow line and close.

The TDI just gives me a lot more information for making my entries & exits decisions.

2scoops asked me a long time ago what would be the most beneficial to learning this method for higher success... The answer was simple... study old charts for set ups... now strip down everything on that chart at that point... trends, angles, S/R levels, News times, Stoch angle within the 20-80 lines..etc. Burn it into your memory... I spent 2 years doing that.... so what does that mean?

It takes me 15 seconds to strip a chart down to nothing including the TDI & Stoch's. Taking clean trades is a breeze for me... why?

I can take you to water but I can't make you drink... follow the simple entry & exit rules. Forget other indicators. I went down those roads so you wouldn't have too...

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Since tradingview has a lot of different TDI indicators I was wondering if there are specific inputs for it to make it look so simple/less crowded with lines etc as most presets do?

Just because you can load a TDI on your chart does not mean you know how to use it.

6 years is very long time to learn to trade.

Do you have a plan when you will turn around the 6 years of losing trades?

After your 2021 5000 trades losses you have shown readers here that the TDI version you use did not work according to Big E' posts.

Tekkies should spend more time on Money Management, Risk management for entries and exits.
