Monthly Profit - Daily Trading using SMA

I am right now working on a new variant of BK8. It is different, so I will start a new thread. It will come included an indicator which sends signals whenever a possible trade is present. So stick around :-)

I plan to start a new thread which build on the BK8 principle. In the preparation I have made a robot that gives possible entry alerts according to BK8 strategy.

The rules of BK8 is:
Entry

1. Long - When previous D1 bull candle's body has clearly crossed SMA and did not touch BB upper band.
2. Short - When previous D1 bear candle's body has clearly crossed SMA and did not touch BB lower band.

So this robot gives signals according to these rules. BUT - how do you tell a computer when somthing has clearly crossed. You cannot. It is a human subjective decission. So I have programmed 2 possibilities. This is for buying. Selling is opposite.

1. If you set the parameter "ClearCross" to "0", then you will get an alert when the close price on recent bar is above SMA5 and the bar before were closed below SMA5.
2. If you set the parameter "ClearCross" to "1", then you will get an alert ONLY when the whole body - including wicks, on recent bar is above SMA5 and the bar before have some part below SMA5 - even if it is just the wick.

Now - this is a robot. Why don't I just let it take the trade automatically? It's because there will be many signals that are not useable. Should not be taken. So by using my robot you will get alerts on what to look at every day, it will get the job easier if you trade many instruments. But you still have to analyze the charts.

OK, but why on earth is it then a robot, if it doesn't trade??? Because I plan to make an automatic EXIT function. The problem in a stoploss is often, that we are taken out by a wick and then the trade continue in the direction that we traded. I will program the robot to exit only when the stoploss is passed by the close of the bar - not a wick. But that is coming later.

Remember to install the robot in the Expert folder.

By the way there is a function that colours the chart if the instruments is part of the portfolio. BGColours. Set it to 0 if you don't want the function or put it on with a 1. I trade 28 pairs and I love having the colours to tell me which pairs I own, when I am trailing the stops manually. And NO - I will not change colours or make them selectable. Use it or don't use it as it is.

If you spot an error in the robot, please let me know.

Based on BK8 which have developed to trading only using SMA5 crossing. My new thread goes back to the beginning and uses Bollinger as a mandatory and important part of the strategy. I have added EMA50 to the strategy.

In the thread it is a purpose to have all kinds of inputs. So a much more open thread than many other threads are.

This post is just to inform you guys. I will never again talk about this new thread here in the BK8 - and nobody else should.

EURNZD Better late than never… I missed this one yesterday. Prices crossed SMA5,3, opening today below Bollinger middle band. Would be great if RSI below 50 at today’s close.

P.S. As usual NZDCHF largely mirrored the movement.

I return to this strategy from time to time during several years. All my historical tests and real-time tries shows profit-loss about 0 on every medium and medium-long periods. Can anyone tell about own experience of using it? Maybe you have a statistic of using it on long period?

As you can see. those posting here and returning from time to time do not trade this blindly with SMA crossover. We combine This strategy with other tools.

crossover 5SMA obviously does not work…

Yes, the system was quite different when BK8 started the thread. He left the thread because there were some people that could not behave. I talked to him after he left and he told me that he was now living by trading the system. Full time trader.
But as it is now as a 5SMA crossover. No that cannot be serious as a stand alone system.

Hi RiskFighter, sorry but I don’t get it.
The system is still the one detailed in post #1.
Bk8 made it clear at the beginning that it was an experiment and as such was open to changes and suggestions. Like for instance switching from SMA5,3 to SMA5,0 and then adding the condition of it pointing up or down. Or giving up Parabolic SAR.
Bollinger have always been optional, it has always been from the very beginning a SMA-crossover based system.

A few fresh signals:

First trade closed, 2nd trade trailed at break even.

Another buy signal on USDJPY (SMA5,0 - pointing up)

Ready for stock markets Christmas rally?

No rally in the end, but we could be more lucky on this short signal.

i want to remove TL and TP then use the MA fast and slow as functions to close the trades. your assistance will be much appreciated.

I understand this is for forex as it has multiple swings in a day, but would you suggest this strategy for stocks as well?

Signal remains valid but we need to break through the trend line and preferably below the weekly Bollinger middle band for confirmation.

Hi Smokey7, I can’t tell from experience but when a strategy is coherent it should just be efficient on most types of assets. I have seen a few Ichimoku traders doing very well in stocks as in forex.
