And again moving the SL a bit higher. Nice profit has been locked.

I feel that SL has been moved up quite aggressively but I want to show you that your approach to it is less important unless you use the correct method.

I wanted to show you my thinking in real time. Price went up and I could move SL to BE. But it is too soon in my opinion. I do not feel comfortable going to BE just because of my doubts. Yeah, I might lose this one, but I do not care about a particular trade. I want to make money in long-term and I dont mind being wrong. I know what works in long term and I have no idea if this trade is going to be a winner or loser. For me, every trade is a shot I have to take despite my feelings.

Hopefully you are starting to see what it means to be a trader. Trader is not a person who is desperately waiting to make another trader. You should trade what you see. And when you do not see it just do not trade. Only once you know this is it, go for it...
SL hit. 4 trades this week. 2were closed in a loss and 2 in the profit. We are up 2.6%


You had many questions how to trade this method when it takes weeks and sometimes months to build positions. The answer is easy. Even when you are not successful at building positions because market is not moving, you can make some money on the way. But once the market starts to move you'll make hundreds percents.

Hello folks, I found this thread from the 'Building an equity millipede'. Should i go through all the 372 pages of those posts to gain sense of this strategy to see it's potential.
I saw a video of someone (quickfingers luc) 'briefly' explaining the concept and found it 'interesting' to say the least. Building positions in a way i never thought of!

Please keep sharing. Your approach is slightly different than Graeme but it works anyway. Graeme is only interested in low-risk entry. You are different, your SL can be large 50 pips~, as well as you follow the trend, it will ok. I found out low-risk entry will need more time to enter, and is usually taken out by Stop hunt

My question: If you are down 5% of the balance but your equity is 10% of the balance (floating profit). Would you take partial profit to gain your balance to zero loss?

Yes, if Im down 5% I definitely bring me balance back closer to the highest value. I like it that way. It is not the optimal way but I prefer to do so.

I strongly advise so. It is few weeks time investment that can yield in huge profits. Just read Graeme's posts. It will be enough. But do not expect to get a working strategy. Just a new point of view that changes how you view your trading for ever.

I have been trying to use Graeme's methods for 1.5 years now and was on the verge of despair until I came across your thread. I am really glad that I haven't given up yet (as you have also held out for even three to four years).

Early this morning, using my weak entry methods, I put in 8 trades (following your strategy), with about half hitting the SL. With the other half I made 3% (assuming that this is due to the very strong market fluctuation).

I have applied to the Telegram group and am looking forward to exchanging ideas.
I would have lots of ideas and thoughts and can't wait to share with you.

First, I wanted to ask what the risk is relative to your account - I roughly calculated that Graeme risks 0.1 - 0.15% per trade. The basis for this reasoning was that Graeme entered with 150k and used between 10 - 15 pips per trade with a lotsize of 2 lots.

You have a very similar risk management - however I can't figure out what percentage you risk per trade.

I also wanted to ask you how many of your trades end up on BE on average.

Hi Z,

I'm glad you are back on track and you see some profits growing.

For this method not to be very difficult at the beginning I suggest you also take profits. You can start taking RRR 1:1 or 1:2 and later increasing it to higher numbers.

I trade almost always only in the direction of the trend (defined as price above or below SMA50 on H4 chart). Therefore I almost never use SLs placed in the platform but I define where Im wrong and I always exit there if price goes against me.

My average loss is 0.25% but sometimes it can reach up to 2%.

I trade mostly SP500 and when you check H4 and SMA50 you see that I go short for last weeks. I enter on pullbacks and I now take profits quite often as I reach around 1% profit. Sometimes I hold positions longer and take higher gains (5% was maximum during last 2 months).

My trade win is 45.9% in long-term. I have no precise stats of BE trades. It really depends on the market cycle.

Let's say that I trade as you say. I open a trade and it is 40 pips in profit and I move SL to BE. And I would open another trade (I would do it on pullback or very strong momentum on H4 or daily TF). The first trade would be locked at BE. The second trade as for me as the only risk I hold. If SL is hit I do not re-enter just because I think it is a good idea. I wait for support or resistance.

My rule no. 1 would be dont ever overtrade. Take it slowly, plan your trades and execute on good levels.

lets make real example. I shorted SP500 on 3600. I will short more on 3640 if it goes up or I'll trail SL if it goes down. My mental SL is at around 3680. I do not have TP levels but I would take some profits on the way down so I dont decrease my balance.

Just trade with the trend with small risk and you'll be alright in longterm. Take profits lets say after 2 days if you feel uncomfortable holding it for longer. Build your equity step by step and you'll find out what suits your personality. I trade differently in bear and bull market...
The most important thing in trading is to find what is comfortable for you. Graeme's method as he trades does not suit me. Im not comfy giving back 5% profit and close it at BE. So Im not going to do it. I might close it there or even sooner.

I do not trade optimally. It could be much better and much higher profits. But I do not care. Im profitable and im more comfortable with 2% profit than losing 5%. I do not see much difference in balance and equity. If I reach new equity high I do not want DD higher than 8% from that point in any period of my trading.
