No, they do not form a channel in the original method.

Big E spent 2 years in developing his 5-method during his trading journey and you obviously did not follow his entire trading journey in Forex Factory.

But I do like your enthusiasm you shown in your last post #134,525 and what you know Trading Made Simple is all about.

In Post#1, he explained how he traded the H4 chart timeframe and he also traded the H1 chart during the NY session. This suited his lifestyle being retired and the time zone he lived. Sadly he passed away in Oct 2012.

When you are overwhelmed (information overload) by the number of posts and the loads of information and variations shared by other traders here, the best thing to do is to stop reading and go back to the basics what Big E mentioned in his 463 posts in this thread and 861 posts in the CHS thread. First you learn and master the 5-Method first before you start add your own tweaks and make a new system.

Recommendations:
Read all of Big E posts... 861posts in the Craig Harris Stochastics thread and 463 posts in this TMS thread....and make notes on those training charts he posted. Pay attention whenever he mentioned PA and what you see on his training charts.

Learn the basic stuff about forex trading first. A good place to start is www.babypips.com/school

If you want to trade the way Big E described in Post#1, make sure you use his template , the Synergy APB / HA candles and use that TDI Red Green version. These are in Post#25.

Important to Note that the TDI Red Green version repaints all the bars in history so you cannot use this when you do back-testing by scrolling back your charts. The better way is to run this in live market and trade the TMS setups based on what you see without refreshing your charts. When you want to trade with entries on the APB#1 and APB#2 candles, always wait for the price bar/candle to close and use the TDI to confirm the setup.

Big E was a rule-based discretionary trader. According to studies by Dr Van K Tharp this rule-based discretionary are the best traders,

Nope. Your chart does not help anyone wanting to learn and to trade Big E' 5-Method.

You did not follow Post#1 and download the correct chart template and you did not set up the 5EMA correctly.

For Trading made Simple, you need the Stochastics with setting (8,3,3).

Make sure you follow Big E' Post#261.

and why he added Shift+2 or Shift+3 to the 5EMA

What is the advantage of the moving average shifted forward number of times?

Do you research study and learn something more which Big E did not explained.

Reluctant to add extras that make my charts look like the cockpit of a 747 Jumbo, but will revisit method and take on board your suggestions.
My 5ma is just the 5sma because my testing (on the single instrument I trade) did not give improved results with the 5ema.
As mentioned, will revisit and might be pleasantly surprised.

Was a big fan of Spudfyre's approach to Stochastic.
But even though Stochs do add another level of confirmation, I found I was "confirming my trades to death."

Every new indicator reduces screen real estate, so chose to simply follow price crossing 5sma and TDI signals.
That is enough for me to rake in the rent.
Will reapply the 8,3,3 this week, and see if it improves my bottom line, and pays its way.

Am not so stiff-necked as to not notice when someone is being kind, and offering to assist, so will follow advice.

Had you on ignore for a long time, because of an exchange you had with another trader which was demeaning to both of you, and was against the spirit and intent of the late Eric in creating this amazing thread for struggling traders.
But it is time to move on from that, and to see if there is anything more to learn (there always is.)

Ingot54, I really like your screen!!!! I also try not to clutter, don`t need resistance and support indications, my brain sees them anyway. I also had my phase of trying to chart confirming information ( Sto, ADX,CCI,RSI, MACD - all for 3 timeframes and 3 different values) - back to simple screen for my decision.
Still I would like some more tools to handle the process BEFORE the trading (i.e. "Monitor", "Alerts",) and AFTER (i.e. automatic trade management).

And to have all the tools and indicators in MT5 version!!

Trading only the 4H charts, since I trade only part-time. I like that Big E also traded the 4H charts. It makes it easy to follow his posts.

I try to keep the screen tidy, like you, so if there is a move, it's what I see, instead of repetitive indicators.

Eric said that he used Stochastic 8,3,3 for trend, but isn't that the intent of the HA candles?
If you look at this chart, we have 3 trend indications - HA candles, TDI and Stochastic (which can't make up its mind!)

Personally - even though I like Stochastic because it can indicate the end of a trend (but so does the flattening and/or hook on TDI) - I can also see the end of a trend by the shrinking size of the HA candles.

It's nice to stay in a trend for the full 4H ... but trading isn't like that. The 4H candles can exhaust within 2 or 3 hours, meaning if you have the computer turned off until a few minutes before the end of the 4H candle, you ar just as likely to have a loss, as a win.

The attached split chart hopefully illustrates that there are more ways to spot Support and Resistance.
Of course there are more such levels on a 1H chart.

That's why my charts are not necessarily cookie cutter images of Eelfranz charts.
But all of us need to be able to be comfortable with the charts we read, and for me, this fulfills the strategy.

It is possible to make more Templates and swap them in and out whenever you need to see different things.
Not everyone will like that idea, but you can just as quickly change back to your working chart to place trades or do further analysis.
Works fine for me - just ideas that might make life easier for people with limited charting space on their screens.

As mentioned in an earlier post, I have reverted to the 5 ema with zero shift as a trial.
To me it is splitting hairs a little, because if I am about to take a trade on the 4H, I always check Weekly and Monthly and Daily trends, and flick down to the 1H chart too. If the 1H is trying to burst through, then sure as eggs the 4H signal is strong too, and whether I am using a 5 sma with zero shift, or a 5 ema with +3 shift, it will be simply another part of the decision.
It may turn out to make more pips as some have thought, but my earlier testing did not show it as a critical element.
I am going to try it for a week - might even keep it if ok.

It is said that TMS V19 is written according to Big E's trading rules. It looks good. Unaccustomed to Blessing 3 because it has Martin in it

Do Not run that as an auto-trading robot.
