We only got the price we have now and the past prices & by using the past and now you can predict the future.

Technical analysis is a way to see the market behavior example, how strong and fast a move went out of a price and how many days stayed inside a range.

By doing techs you can see how other players did and start learning more about how they behave and then use it for your trading.

Also the big banks use it to trade, or sit out of the market and just observe.

Its good to use fundamental news too.

Yes! If you rotate the 1HR chart 90 degrees it would also complete an almost perfect "wedgie" (aka camel toe) pattern.

Even though i expect a neutral ECB i have closed some of my EU shorts, just to reduce the risk if ECB makes a hawkish suprise like they did last month.

If Lagarde makes a neutral statement market probably won't move much because it's already priced in, but if she makes a hawkish statement EU can go crazy.

Smart move. Im expecting a drop but no way im entering before reading the statement in 4 minutes. The risk apetite for both sides is gigantic today

Ahaha don't get me wrong i am still short too, but today's d1 will probably close bullish. I am thinking about adding more shorts after the daily candle close.

I think Lagarde will talk hawkish in the press conference, so this still has some room to go up. It's better to short later, Wall Street can buy this so bad. Daily candle close is a safe game

Please explain how these sanctions will destroy Europe. What does Russia supply that cannot be sourced from elsewhere? To me, the sanctions will destroy Russia, not Europe. The people to feel the sanctions more are the Russians and I pity them. Saying the sanctions will destroy Europe sounds like scaremongering; something Putin would do to scare people. The man is lost.

I think both sides are exaggerating. Europe is not going to destroy of course, but it's no secret that they will pay much more money for energy and grains. Stagflation risks are rised due to high energy and commodity prices. Euro weakened.

However Russian economy is already destroyed in one week. They cannot even dare to open Moscow Stock Exchange. Ruble crashed.

The war affects both parties badly economically, let alone the humanitarian side, immigrations etc. I think there's no winner here, like every war in the history.

@Mitiblotch - I agree with you that these sanctions will come down very hard on the average Russian citizen. Not only governmental sanctions but when companies like McDonalds, Coke, Pepsi, et al., shut down in Russia it will produce profound pain which is their purpose. Unfortunately this "pain" will not get to Putin and his cronies. I guess that world leaders are hoping that the Russian citizens rise up and revolt; I don't see that happening due to Putin's cruelty.

Ultimately the goods and services that Russia will lose can be replaced via China which will gladly purchase the Russian goods and supplies.

QUESTION:

Does anyone here remember what was happening in 2014?

From May 2014 until March 2015 the EU dropped from 1.40 to 1.075. January 2015 the EU had a 1,000 pip range.

There wasn't any war going on then.

Frankly I don't see the Euro doing much of anything and the USD needs to dramatically increase rates before stagflation takes off.

You know what's funny about this situation, the west say's Putin is a dictator, only allows propaganda to pass on their media, but then they are the first one's to block/censorship the Russian media, this goes against the principles of free information, freedom of opinion and freedom of speech. They say Putin gets rid of all political opposition he has, but yet they spend 4 years doing everything they could to remove an elected president by force (Trump) and they are still trying to make sure he hasn't got a chance in the future. There have been things in the pasts years that should really worry anyone that defends democracy and freedom of speech or opinion. It's not Putin that went crazy, it's our fucking politics in the West that got crazy. Open your eyes, what happened in the USA with Trump went far beyond what's acceptable, you may not like him, i personally don't love him or would put him in a list of the best presidents in the USA, but the man was elected, we need to respect is voters and the fact that they won. If every time someone loses starts to make excuses to why they didn't win (Russian interference, fraud in voters count) then there won't be any democracy that can resist, we will fight each other forever.

We good for sells?

I didn’t read anything of the monetary policy statement or any excerpts of the ECB press conference, as macroeconomics is not really my strength, but I did see the rate is still at 0%. The way the price is dropping I can only assume it’s bad news for the Euro. Was already in a small sell position from last night. Looking to add.
