DAILY MARKET OUTLOOK on Major

USD/JPY - 115.35
Dollar's intra-day cross-inspired break of last week's 115.42 high suggests re-test of previous res at 115.68 would be seen after consolidation, break there would extend recent rise from Jan's 1-month trough at 113.48 to 115.90/00, loss of momentum should cap price below Jan's near 5-year peak at 116.34.

On the downside, below 115.00 any time signals temporary top is made and risks stronger retracement to 114.78.

On the data front, this week's main focus is U.S. cpi on Thur, today, we have a slew of 2nd-tie eco. data, pls refer to our EI page for details. We also have Fed's Bowman n Cleveland Fed's President Mester (voter) speaking at 15:30GMT n 17:00GMT respectively.

EUR/USD - 1.1420
Although euro's retreat to 1.1397 (Tuesday) signals upmove from Jan's fresh 20-month trough at 1.1122 has made a temporary top at last Friday's 11-week high of 1.1483, yesterday's rebound to 1.1447 in New York would bring consolidation before another fall, below said support would yield stronger retracement to 1.1370/75 but reckon 1.1345 may hold.

On the upside, only a daily close above 1.1468 would risk re-test of 1.1483, break would extend said upmove to 1.1510/14 later.

Data to be released on Thursday:
Japan producer prices, Australia consumer inflation.
UK GDP.
U.S. CPI, core CPI, jobless claims and Federal budget.

Despite dollar's fall from 115.68 to 114.17 last Wed, subsequent erratic rise in tandem with U.S. yields and intra-day brief break of 115.68 suggests correction from Jan's 5-year peak at 116.34 has ended at 113.48 (Jan) earlier and upside bias remains for stronger gain towards 116.08, break, 116.30/34.

On the downside, only a daily close below 115.33 signals a temporary top is in place and would risk stronger retracement towards 115.06, then 114.92.

On the U.S. eco. data front, we have CPI n initial jobless claims n continued jobless claims at 13:30GMT, then later fereal budget ar 19:00GMT.

Despite euro's rally from 1.1375 and brief break of previous Feb's 1.1483 top to a near 3-month peak of 1.1495 in New York, subsequent sharp retreat to 1.1408 on broad-based rebound in usd after Fed Bullard's hawkish comments suggests upmove from Jan's 20-month 1.1122 low has made a top there and below 1.1375 would yield stronger retracement towards 1.1330.

On the upside, only a daily close above 1.1483 risks re-test of 1.1495, break would extend towards 1.1514 before down.

On the data front, Germany will release CPI , HICP n wholesale price index at Euroepan open. ECB member Elderson will appear in panel discussionat a finance Summit at 08:05GMT.

Despite the greenback's brief retreat from Thur's 5-week peak at 116.33 to 115.74 in New York, subsequent rebound in tandem with U.S. yields on Fed Bullard's hawkish comments suggests consolidation with upside bias remains for re-test of Jan's near 5-year 116.34 top, break would extend recent upmove towards 116.86 .

On the downside, only a daily close below 115.74 signals a temporary high is in place and would risk stronger retracement towards 115.33, then 115.06 on Mon.

Friday's break of 1.1371/75 sup to 1.1331 in New York afternoon due to broad-based safe-haven usd buying due to escalating Ukraine tension suggests corrective rise from January's 1.1122 bottom has formed a top at last Thur's near 3-month peak at 1.1495 and weakness to 1.3300/10 is seen, reckon 1.1266 (61.8% r) would remain intact.

Only a daily close above 1.1375 signals temporary low is made and may risk stronger recovery towards 1.1417 before retreat.

No eco. data is due out from the euro area countries, however, we have release of Buba monthly report n ECB President Lagarde will speak at the 20th anniversary of euro banknotes and coins at the plenary session of the European Parliament at 16:15GMT.

Despite the greenback's rise to a 5-week peak at 116.33 on Thursday, subsequent selloff to 115.02 on Friday suggests recent upmove has made a temporary top there and intra-day retreat from 115.59 on safe-haven jpy buying due to escalating tensions in Ukraine suggests stronger retracement of recent upmove towards 114.78/80 would be seen.

On the upside, only above 115.60/65 would indicate aforesaid pullback has ended instead and risk gain towards 116.00/05 later this week.

New Zealand business NZ PSI, food price index.
Swiss producer/import price on Monday.

Euro's break of last Fri's 1.1331 low to a 10-day bottom at 1.1281 in New York Mon on safe-haven usd buying due to continued Ukraine tension together with dovish comments from ECB's Lagarde suggests correction from Jan's 20-month trough at 1.1122 has possibly ended earlier at last Thur's near 3-month 1.1495 peak and downside bias remains for weakness towards 1.1268 but 1.1222 would hold due to loss of downward momentum.

On the upside, only a daily close above 1.1469 (Mon high) may risk stronger retracement to 1.1400/10 before prospect of another fall later this week.

Japan GDP, industrial output, capacity utilization.

Although dlr's initial firm break of last week's low at 114.80 to a 2-week trough of 114.51 suggests recent 3-legged rise from Jan's 114.17 bottom has ended at 116.33 in mid-Feb, present short-covering rebound would bring consolidation.

Above 115.12 would risk gain to 115.29 where a daily close above there needed to bring stronger retracement of said decline to 115.53 later. Below 114.51 would extend weakness twd 114.17 but loss of momentum should keep price above 113.75/80.
