In my opinion, Gann, and mathematics in general, does not need to prove anything. Especially here. Time and practice have long proved everything.
As for the practical part of Gann theory (correct me if I'm wrong), it will be difficult to use it effectively without a deep dive into it.
As for Jim Simons, his team of scientists uses a variety of approaches (not just mathematics, but statistics and economics, for example) to create computer models for predicting price changes when investing.
PS. I myself use some mathematical things in my trading.
For instance - percentage extension projections of the daily open, based on the fibonacci sequence.
