EU ranging - BB narrowing - Wait and see to night og tomorrow nights Tokyo open for a break either way.

Hi Oddbjorg, are you implying that a narrowing bb would indicate a new trading signal?

Hello Batavia Trade - nice having you.
For me it looks like that when the upper and lower BB are narrowing and the trend is somewhat slowing down, the currency pair goes in to a kind of charging mode for a new trend and then takes off and bb widens again.
Childlike explanation and maybe some of the profs could tell it better.

Still waiting - not bearish- even though sma points down - it is not enough - because candles have wicks - so we will see which way this will go.

Want a bearish candle with no wicks to break down to red line 1 or 2 and ma 5 pointing down and BB widening a bit to go in and sell. We will see. All the best.

I have not yet learned to trade the news as some profs do.
This system is just mainly going through the charts at Tokyo open,
and go in or stay out ref. to rules.

We all know how important is the crossing of the Bollinger middle band SMA20. I like to filter it in conjunction with the cross of RSI 50 middle line.
Here we have two different upward crosses of the BMB. At the opening of the next candlestick after the first crossover the RSI was left below 50 line and price action pulled back. On the second crossover RSI line crossed over 50 and price action finally broke upside after ranging for a few days.

For those familiar with Ichimoku it’s interesting to note how the Chikou Span (gold) has been rejected by the SMA20 (turquoise) on the monthly EURUSD. This shows it’s a strong support/resistance at play.

The dollar seems quite resistant and upside for EUR could prove limited for the short term.
