Big E : you can trade without the TDI

Honestly on the 5 method you don't really need any indicators because the simple entry rules are so basic and clear cut. If I were to pick two it would be the tdi & stochs.

Jan 26, 2011
#3103
I almost always have the tdi & stoch on all my charts regardless of the method being used.

However, it's not necessary on the 5 method for me. It gives people more confidence when they have it on their charts it seems.... and it's a good confirmation to the current PA and possible trade.

#3418
You can trade the 5 method without the TDI if it's a problem...

PA is HA Candles, PA crosses the yellow line and closes... enter on the next candle if it's the same color. When candles flatten out... exit. Stay in the trade as long as it doesn't cross back over the yellow line and close.

The TDI just gives me a lot more information for making my entries & exits decisions.

2scoops asked me a long time ago what would be the most beneficial to learning this method for higher success... The answer was simple... study old charts for set ups... now strip down everything on that chart at that point... trends, angles, S/R levels, News times, Stoch angle within the 20-80 lines..etc. Burn it into your memory... I spent 2 years doing that.... so what does that mean?

It takes me 15 seconds to strip a chart down to nothing including the TDI & Stoch's. Taking clean trades is a breeze for me... why?

Read above...

I can take you to water but I can't make you drink... follow the simple entry & exit rules. Forget other indicators. I went down those roads so you wouldn't have too...

#296 (Nov 4, 2008)
I profit every day by using Stochastics. I hope you will too. It's just part of the puzzle.

{quote} good your got that timeframe change resolved. make sure you have the correct files and templates just to make sure you get the correct 'signal' alerts according to the OP H4 and H1 trading. the TDU Green Red version is important for the correct C-Slope and P-Slope values for analysis and trade decision. ***Do Not follow the recommendation column blindly*** because that recommendation does not include the Stoch signal condition. (Post#261) When you get the alert, you must go to your trading charts and check if there are trade setups...

thank you for warning do not follow recommendations blindly. More than often I had seen strong buy, but P was near equal high, or sell when P near equal low. I thought I caught the timing to read the signals too late, but no even when I looked at it at session openings that still happened sometimes

Big E did not use volume when trading retails spot forex.

I use real volume when I trade exchange traded Futures - Currency Futures and Indices Futures.

People here are not interested in volume except to trade when green line crossed red line, green line crossing red line, green line bounce off red line....

when market open ,

do this everyday,

Big E Post#11:
==============================
Before trading the First thing we do is print out the Daily Calendar from Forex Factory and put next to your computer for News Releases.

Second thing we do is check out our Tokyo Channel to make sure the spread is at least 40 pips or more from Hi to Low. If it's less than 40 pips we don't trade the chart until it is. Tokyo Channel starts at the beginning of the new day and runs until midnight New York time or until the Euro market opens.

Why is this important? On the 15 minute G/U chart we want to see our Hi/Lo swings at 30-60 pips so you are making good money on the few trades you'll make. Normally on that chart/timeframe the Tokyo Channel top to bottom has to be over 40 pips before you get those kind of swings. This is critical.

Craig normally starts trading at the London Open. He normally trades 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Personal Note: I start looking for set ups 2 hours before the London Open when the Tokyo Channel is over 40 pips by that time.

Unless your over 50 it shouldn't be a big deal to stay up to midnight or 1 AM and go to work the next day. You probably do that most weekends already?

===============================

> What if the Asian channel (also known as the Tokyo channal) is less than 40pips, say 20 pips and the previous days were narrow ranged and the Friday Oct01 Daily an Day Inside Bar?

Example EU H1 Oct New York Close 5pm EST.

Reading the last few post, TDI decided to come along and blow them all them all to bits:
There is a reason why BigE posted this:

Apply the above sentence against what gets posted and you will notice they have little value .

hey @Tekkies

learn from Big E old posts and charts:

a few simple tips:

1) do not trade after London session closed
2) do not trade during the Asian session until you see the Asian session high-low
3) if you want to trade H1, the best trading hours was between London Open till London Close, note the overlap hours of the London session and the NY session.
4) you can trade the 4hr at 10PM PDT and 2Am PDT and close 4hr trades at 6AM PDT
5) and trade H1 during the first 2 to 3hours of New York session open.
6) do not trade one hour before major news /events.... best wait for the news release the trade after that
7) also trade the Daily
8) try the Weekly too!
