{quote} why do u want the EA to follow the indcator when buy and sell both will open at the same time and build positions ?

Hi, nice to have you around. I am using indicators to open the first order on a more overbought or oversold situation. This gives me the option to run much smaller distance between the orders of a cycle and makes the approach more save. It is just about the first order of the cycle, the following orders are handled within a pure grid logic.

I've been following this thread. Quite new to FF. Thanks everyone. Is there a set file for a slow and steady approach to this EA? I'd love to test it and post results here. Thanks.

The "right" settings depend on many things like risk appetite, leverage, account type and account size. Out of my experience I would advise you do some backtest. When you find settings you like, make a visual BT and ask yourself if you are happy with trading frequency and equity drawdown. Then use an demo account for a front test of your settings...After that decide if you want start with real money.

I know people's first guess us EA means starting trading easily and saving time. Out of my experience this is not true. Yes, you save time on trading, but you have to invest time in testing.

So maybe this is not the answer every one would like to hear, but it's honest and backed by my experience.

Cheers

The original code is written in pre-"build 600" style which allows a number of coding issues to go unchecked, so attempting to compile in "strict" mode resulted in 130 warnings and several errors. In addition, NormalizeDouble() was being used where DoubleToString() was required, and vise versa. There were also bugs in the array access code and variable scoping issues which required fixing. The attached version compiles without error and a EURUSD back-test from 01/01/2020-24/03/2021 matched exactly with the back-test of the original code, so it seems...

If there's a good .set file you want me to test, I'll gladly do it for a longer period of time.

Friend MaPi, I want to leave a suggestion here.

I believe that there is no need to trigger any indicator on the EA Ikarus, as the operator can check his strategy on a parallel chart and enter the chart with the EA Ikarus.

In my opinion, just create a primary entry button (BUY and SELL) that the operator can make immediate order or pending order. These inputs, when activated, will be the primary inputs (only one input without hedging). This primary entry going to the target, closed loop.

If the primary entry is unsuccessful, then EA Ikarus would take action with the same possibilities as we have, distance, progression, volume, etc ...

It would be a mixed system, where the operator would take the first step and EA Ikarus would manage the rest.

Grateful for the attention

HK50 closed in profit manually looking at P/L Sym. Note that in this broker 1 lote is like 0.10.

If I donīt ask too much, is it possible to add a start time option?
Another question: why are the green buttons disabled?

Thank you in advance.

Hi MAPI,
EA performance since last week is great so far in my demo account, thank you so much for sharing ...
I have a question regarding the EA if there is any minimum account balance defined for IKARUS V2.0 ... it is not opening any trades in my real account on EURUSD with 1.5 pip spread ... Any parameters should be revised for a real account?
If you don't build your DREAM, Someone will hire to help build theirs ...

Hi, my beta version has the option to disable indicators so you can choose if you want them, I think this is a valid option for the improved version, too...

But yes, we definitely will need a manual entry button for buy and sell, so you can use the EA for normal trading with the grid as "hedge" and grid trading.

Hi, minimum volume to start a cycle is 0.01 lot. Please check in the upper right if the spread is shown in red, if yes the EA want open orders due to your setting in max_spread. The input here are MT4 points, so for 1.5 Pips it should be 15 or 20, when soread on your account is dynamic

i still dont understand why u guys are talking about indcator and all? this EA opens buy and sell together,do u want this EA to open one bias only either buy or sell?

i advocate trend following trading also in using any EA,so yes indicator is needed to open first trade and only one bias.if it is positive then grids begins and if lossing ,then hedging or marti starts.

I explained this in other post allready. It will be optional by setting, but in doing so the EA will be able to trade a tighter grid and add safety instead of ongoing buy/sell cycle

I've been adjusting a few things with the EA to fall in line with one of my own similar strategies, the results looks promising. However I need to work on reducing the drawdown and protect the balance if a drawdown occurs, since it's a bit high for my personal taste.

These test were made with live data between 01/01/2021 - 01/04/2021.

ROI: 234 % - Profit Factor: 26.91 - Drawdown: 40.78 %
Attached Image

In the second test I tried to reduce the drawdown (same risk used as in the above test and as in MaPi's original settings), however it impacted the ROI quite a lot compared to the first test, though it's still high.

ROI: 150 % - Profit Factor: 12.12 - Drawdown: 30.64 %
Attached Image

I know the details are vague at the moment, but I'll share more as I go along.

BR,
Mr. Bank

Price range setting function according to volatility using ATR.
Automatic lot management function (both to profit and to reduce risk).
I think these two are necessary.
