I am new to this thread.
Trying to understand how this wonderful EA works and the best way to take advantage of it.
I like to work with index.

My first impression is that this EA works well when there are high volatility and a caotic market.
So it closes quickly the trades without too many steps of volume.
To me, it seems no need to run it all day. Take your daily gain and get off.

In the screenshot, the lot is 1.00 because this broker allows only this initial lot which is like 0.1 with UK50.

Welcome flashpaul,

as stated befor I do not have experience in using Icarus on non FX instruments. But yes, you nailed it, optimum market is a volatile phase, it can be up or down or range, but enought volatility so both cycles can be closed. By the way, with a high setting on profit_lock the EA will trade more risky than with a low setting. Reason behind: The new cycle will open closer to the high or low of the movement and will potential add more trades when the market changes direction. This is on of the reasons I want to have a indicator based entry (like my beta) so we can also use higher profit lock due to the fact the new cycle will not open imidiatly after the old one was closed...

So as outlook for the EA I would like to create with the help of this wonderful forum, I give you some inside on the Beta of the EA which I use on my real account:

 

  1. Opens cycle on conditions from BollingerBands and or Stoachastik / RSI, from second order it behaves like Ikarus 2.0. Currently my cycle opens when high/low crosses 3 Std. Dev. on BB(20) and Slow Stochastik ist higher/lower 30/70. All on m5 chart.
  2. Has an option to stop trading on a daily target (I do not use this)
  3. Has a automatic and manual "trendfunction" (I do not use it).

Here you say you have set the ea to operate more calmly.
Does it mean that the settings of the first post have changed?
with a currency like eurusd and 0.01 lot what budget do you recommend?

US30 and SP500 do have high volatility at 16:30 of the broker. HK50 at 04:15 of the broker. It is possible to arm the EA before this time, before sleeping for those who are at a disadvantage with the time zone, and to set Stop Next Cycle. It is only a suggestion.

Again: I am trading on my real account a beta version of the EA wich is attached in post 1. The differences of my version are:

 

  1. Opens cycle on conditions from BollingerBands and or Stoachastik / RSI, from second order it behaves like Ikarus 2.0. Currently my cycle opens when high/low crosses 3 Std. Dev. on BB(20) and Slow Stochastik ist higher/lower 30/70. All on m5 chart.
  2. Has an option to stop trading on a daily target (I do not use this)
  3. Has a automatic and manual "trendfunction" (I do not use it).

So my change of settings on the real account is not related to the settings which are as default in the version I have attached here. Reason to start the thread are

1) I was learning a lot from forexfactory so I feeled it was time to give something back
2) I can trade but not code, my coder of Icarus is to busy to improve the project further, so I want together with you and hopefuly the support of some skilled MQL4 Coders push the roboter to a new level with new functionality

Before you ask, main reason why I do not post my beta (the one I use on my acc) is, it has some smaller bugs, there is one feature I do not understand at the moment (hopefuly I will get input from the coder after easter holidays) and I agreed with the coder to publish the version of post 1, not the beta I am using on my new account.

I have a long list of features (including the ones I have in my beta) and counting on all of you, to give input what kind of features we can add to a potential improved version.

Yeap, we can add to our wishlist a starting and ending time (or multiple). I will summerize my wishes including the ones wish have been posted here so far aproximatly end of next week...Hopefully people with MQL4 skills will explain than, what is possible

I have activated your ea in a real account with EURUSD and 0.01 and I want to understand how it behaves.
It would certainly be very useful to have the possibility to stop the EA in some time slots.

be careful when running this on standard account,it may become dangerous,so im using cent account

Hi and good luck, I would recommend doing first intense backtests followed up by frontest via demo before using it on real account. Anyhow, keep us posted...cheers

i wouldnt use dangerous EAs on gold unless u r on cent account
All martingales are not meant for standard account unless you have 10,000 dollar account with safe settings like 1.1x or 1.12
i have lost a lot of money on standard account using martingale EA
I've been following this thread. Quite new to FF. Thanks everyone. Is there a set file for a slow and steady approach to this EA? I'd love to test it and post results here. Thanks.

why do u want the EA to follow the indcator when buy and sell both will open at the same time and build positions ?
