with a trending grid you can make at least 100% a year and have a low DD at the same time.....not like a ranging grid, adding to losers and one day losing your account and having sleepless nights!.........I gave an example how I trade in "Grid trading system, keeping DD to a minimum"...
do not get married to a single pair: look where the trends are happening and start gridding there....many times the trend will stall and you`ll have quite a few small wins and losses.....that`s where people give up.....
keep going and you only need a few good trends a year which will make you heaps of money....
if you have a choice, go for the low spread pairs....when I hit a home run, I might be in trades for months, so swap is important......also trade cfd`s on futures, where I don`t pay any swap.....

@ Lopuch: good trading - only 12% DD.....what are your other parameters for pair selection?

the multipier is very dangerous if it is 1,2,3,5.can we make it 1.1X etc?

I`m not an EA type of guy, but maybe it is possible to run another EA just for directional gridding?

Simple: volatility is needed - because in my style of trading EA add trades only in profit direction, i.e. in ranging market the number of positions does not change.
On the other hand, if volatility is exaggerated, there is a danger of too wide a range and MC (margin call). The crosses are based well on this are GBP, unsuitable is e.g. TRY.
Then all you have to do is choose an adequate one pipstep.

First I'd like to thank you for sharing MaPi. I joined the forum to jump into the discussion.
I've been trading for more than 12 years with strategies developed by myself, so I'd figured it would be fun to test out some strategies developed by others, for a "fun account" - as you mention. I'd like to ask you, will you share your Beta version, for possible ideas of improvements? As in my mind it do look a bit more interesting than your shared version.

Can you explain the unbalance control function? It is assumed that at a specific moment, the previous cycle closes and another opposite begins with the lot of the last closed order ?. How is it configured? a specific number? In backtesting it doesn't work for me.

Hi, yes off course, here you go.

First, the unbalance mode in the current version is VERY dangerous, it will almost guarantee to blow up your account. Therefore, I advise you not to use it with real money. Having that said this mode is still a valid option for the version of the EA, I would like to develop in this thread, on my current beta version of the EA I sometimes use it when bigger drawdown is kicking in.

So how does the mode work? You are activating it with the input “1”. In doing so you are giving the EA instructions to link the starting volume of the closed cycle to the 3. Last traded volume of the open cycle (which will have a negative PL at this moment).

Example:
Let’s say you are trading with progression = 3 (Fibonacci). The EA has opened 4 Buy order so far (0,01/0,01/0,02/0,03) and now the sell cycle is closed in profit. The new sell cycle will open with 0,01 lot, because this is the third last volume of the open buy cycle.

We are still trading with progression 3, but now the EA has opened 5 buy orders (0,01/0,01/0,02/0,03/0,05). The sell cycle is closed and will be opened now with 0,02 instead of 0,01, due to the reason this is the 3. Last volume of the buy cycle.

This is how the modus works, so when it comes to a trend you will have bigger volume = potential wins against the direction where your drawdown is. Since the EA is opening ongoing cycles, this will lead to a ping pong effect which will drastically add volume to the starting order of each cycle. I have some ideas for this feature for our improved version which I will tell you soon so we can discuss it.

Hi Yonnie.

I appreciate having you here, welcome! When we reached the point of improving, we can discuss an option for the EA to choose between trend and contra trend. But for the moment the EA is what it is.

I understand from your threads you are having a good knowledge on trending grids, but I would ask you not to go off topic in the thread to much (e.g. asking here on a graph of another system, you can do this via pm…). As you can read in the first words of the first post, I like to keep this thread here on topic and clean. Thank you for your understanding,

Hi, at the moment you have 4 options for volume:

0= 1/1/1/1/1/1/1/...
1= 1/2/3/4/5/6/7...
2= 1/2/4/5/16/24...
3= 1/1/2/3/5/8/13...

On my account I am using option 3 (I call it fibogale, lol) most of the time.

But for the wishlist we could add the option of a multiplicer where you can set the value of your choice.

The performance of my betaverison of the EA on my real account was promising, but risky. The hoel February I was challanged by a huge DD on a shortcycle in EURUSD, which I had manualy opend. The account survived, and due to hedgings (via hot buttons and unbalanced mode in combination of "stop next cycle") I made made some extra €. After that experience and due to the fact that my job was keeping me busy I changed settings and the EA performed much calmer in March.

When we work together I am confident we will create a much better version than my beta which I use at the moment. Allready after 3 days when I opend the thread I find promising ideas here and also we received a cleaned up version of the code, thanks a lot to the coder!

The next days I might be a little more inactive here to enjoy the holidays,

I believe that the Active US30 is the best for this Expert, has an average ADR of 400 pips daily. think about it.

I'm running EA # post 35

In less than 01 days running $ 50 dollars in profit so far.

Keep us posted, out of my mind I would think the Dow is to trendy for Icarus and the cost are higher than major forex, but time will tell us those things...Cheers

This is what I mean...One lot US30 equals 33.000 USD, you pay 6 USD plus Spread...1 Lot EURUSD equals 100.000 €, and I pay less spread than you (0,3 avg) and hav the same comission but 3 times the volume...But anyhow, good luck, looking forward for some updates...Cheers
