{quote} I am curious to understand why you use Excel RTD and not a script to generate cvc datafile in MT4? Script I am told does not have this limitation. CVC file can be saved as Excel and you can work with your formulas or indicators. Are there any indicators in Excel that can simulate as ADR or ATR?

Agree downloading history data from MT4 will give lot more bars and may have been a better option in hindsight for this analysis.

I prefer DDE Server or Excel RTD because it can continuously stream data into excel to be able to do analysis in real-time and have the ability to execute a trade or push notification/alert to my phone to check the market for trades when conditions are met. It also has the ability to extract indicator related data with a single command.
Example if I want to find out ATR for GBPUSD for last 21 bars on Daily Timeframe.
=RTD("FXBlueLabs.ExcelRTD", , "XXXXXX", "@atr,GBPUSD,D1,21,0")\

Cheers
Garfield

This is for elderlies ....and those with an open mind to learn serious trading.

Engaging in mentally stimulating activities such as reading, writing and playing games can improve brain health. Exercising your brain can help prevent beta-amyloid deposits from developing. These are the destructive proteins that have become the hallmark of those who develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Demo traders can use this button indicator as per their bias.

1. Before pushing the button, please do some analysis by taking a look at the 8 to 10 horizontal lines of Closed Candles and form some opinion on whether to buy or sell or keep quiet.

It would be fun to enter trading through Pending Orders with TP and choosing timeframe to exit , without worrying about Stop Loss.

Keep notes on whether the Longs or Shorts run rapidly . If Longs run rapidly with smaller SL pips in tow, that means your risk is less. If Shorts run rapidly with larger SL pips as a baggage, then always look for Longs to reduce your risks.

Until that probability of optimum Stop Loss Pips is determined by you. keep using EA to liquidate trades by Time expiry. Time expiry does not mean you will always lose, you may end up with less profit.

In my 36 years of trading, I have not been able to make peace with my brain which does not allow me to exit trades. So I found this solution of EA making a decision for me by forced exit by time.

{quote} I rarely visit the Trading Systems Forum, now I know why. Some huge claims here of a "proven", "profitable" system, entry decided on a coin toss ? Incredible. Would it not be better to direct people to Las Vegas where you might get free drinks & sandwiches and maybe some entertainment ? Losing your life savings gambling is not stress free. {image}

Dear Shabs,

if you think that any of the tousands of available MT4 indicatos will give you any advantage over the random coin flip over the long term, I have some bad news for you. You dont have to believe, if you dont have a doctorate in applied mathematics or quantum physics, but I can assure you that you will learn it the hard way in the future.
Long term succesfull trading is NOT about the indicators.
Even the Baum-Welch algorithm using Markov chain stochastic model is not succesfull for an ordinary mortal (if ever applicable at all for such).

Best.

Indicators only tell you what's already happened, can they predict the future ? Simple answer, No they can't.
Coin Flip however is totally random, you cannot predict a call precisely, with luck maybe, and over 100's coin tosses you may get 50-50 right ?

Trading should not be about luck, however as a probability game, it is also often the probability that will also help you identify a possible trade, which can be very often predictable.

I think Newton's first law of motion is more practical than a fancy algorithm / stochastic "whatcha ma call it."

Trading is Human psychology at best, understand this and you may be closer to the truth.

Complex problems often have simple solutions, We as Humans have to make the simple into the complex.
