Start with an amount that something you can:

1. afford to loss
2. not waste your time trying to learn to trade
3. feel the heat in trading

Excuse my ignorance... determination has nothing to do with winning or losing in trading. No one goes out to trade with one thing in mind and that is to blow his/her money and secondly many start with a big amount only to blow it. So lack of capital isn't a factor nor is determination as a key to success.

Perhaps it's mindset or a well thought plan that has been tested and tested and restested over many trades. If not this then it's close to this.
If you are successful then your trading balance chart should look something like the attached.

Any amount above $25 is suitable for newbies. My initial balance was $63 when I startesd live trading. This $63 I got from a forum for posting. At the beginning, I traded in live using no deposit bonuses, bonuses for posting and in these process I made profit without costing a single dollar from me. After growing much confidence I started live trading using my own money.

began w/ 3,000 USD last year. Now have close to 20k. My first funding came from a credit card, which isn't recommend, but I was confident with my trading strategy and decided to take the chance.

I agree, but what do you mean in point 2?
I can't even imagine the situation when learning is wasting of time, at specially at the start spot.

Money is not the main problem in the forex market. The main problem is knowledge. If you don't have enough knowledge, you can not survive in this risky market.

started with 190->200, lost it, scaled down to 50 and kept depositing until I realized with micro accounts you have to work harder. Next goal of funding it 1000-3000

For me it is a but different way of thinking

I decided to put up 3 strategies on live accounts. So I have chipped in $2000 each.

It is more for the sake of margin reserve than risk/profit values

1. $6000 (total) is something comfortable to lose entirely for me, BUT
2. I only risk $20/ trade (1% per account), and a determined “ruin level” of 50%. That is, if I lose 50% of the whole account, I will close it and withdraw the rest. Start fresh sometimes with another strategy, etc.
3. it is enough for my mentality to really treat my accounts seriously.

So I put in $6000 but risking $3000.

I think it is best to use the capital with which money management can be properly maintained.

I stated with 300$ probably. It's been many years since then. Eventually I lost all the 300$. I invested money without having much knowledge about trading. Don't invest money if you are not well equipped.

hehe I love those decades old trades revivals
Anyway,ask yourself if you'd start own business with 300,-
ask yourself if you'd start start your own bakery,if you never made single cake
or electrician without any knowledge about electricity and examples could continue on and on.

True. Trade in demo account first. Practice until fully master the trading.
