Hello, I'm new to this method of trading. I've been trading for 3 years with zero success. I was trying to trade the 1m - 15m charts. I got totally destroyed. I took my first trade today on GU and won 35 pips. Stress free.

@Tekkies -- I agree. Answering that question would make for a great post -- and discussion.

I don't have the answers -- I'm still a rookie trader and only here because I dislike righteous SOBs and @DrDick captured my attention when he mocked BigE's death and then assigned himself protector of "BigE's original vision". Besides -- I strictly trade algorithmically.

So, yes -- why not have people share what they think the 3 most important elements are -- and why. And if people disagree, then discuss the pros and cons. In the end, everyone comes away a winner -- except, of course, @DrDick. For everyone to come away a winner would be @DrDicks worst nightmare. His biggest wish is to shut the thread down...

Oh, yes, in your own words. BigE last posted in 2011 -- 9 years ago. No one here seriously believes he would be trading the same way today as he did 9 years ago. So -- with his "spirit" as your guide -- what are the 3 best "take aways" for this method?

BigE never clearly stated why HA is important. I found them to hide the wicks and size of bar's.
Would rather replace Nr 3 with Support / Resistance level.
Many reversal and TDI setups do occur at those levels. Also said they do get broken many times.

Now you admit you do not fully know Big E method 100%. You are missing many pieces of the Big E's Trading Made Simple puzzle. Your puzzle is only #463# pieces. You missed those important posts about the HA candles.

the TDI is lagging the price action.... but heck the green did bounce off the yellow and it crossed down the red and then cross up the red ... it simply follow the price, whatever the price does it just follow ... if price leaps over the cliff' edge, green will also follow

WRONG information alert!

The APB/HA candles do not hide the wicks and size of the real price bars.

1) You have the option to have your price bar chart set to show as Foreground Chart*.
* Big E did not mention this ... LOL.

Or

2) You can turn off the APB/HA candle whenever you want to see clearer what the price is doing.

you can also see the Weekly candle on you lower TF charts like this D1 with Weekly candles turn on.

@Tekkies -- good start, thank you...

My point about 9 years ago -- yes, it's true, he might not have ever changed. But 9 years is a long time and I suspect most people, even successful traders, are always looking for ways to improve. The market is dynamic and no one would ever claim they understand it 100% or have nothing further to learn -- except our resident righteous SOB @DrDick. And from BigE's history we know that he was adaptable and did adjust his approach over his trading journey. It is interesting to me the two biggest advocates of BigE's methodology totally missed BigE's greatest skill -- he was willing to continuously learn and adapt his observations to improve his trading success.

the truth is Big E did not ever once mention in this thread the elements of a trading system.

what about in his other posts in FF? ... the missing pieces of the Big E "It's just part of the puzzle".

Don't go off topic Robot. Don't change the point of what have been asked. You asked for three best "take aways" for this method.
Grandma will understand > Angle, Direction, S/R level.

Grandma will use above to fine tune those three point's to her understand of the method over a period of time and may replace, add, remove them.

I would tell this there on top of my head.

1) Never too old to learn to trade the markets.
Some say learning to trade can be a lifelong process but this is not necessarily true. Many older people with active minds and good thinking skills will learn through reasoning and remembering. Learning by heart and memorising may not work when trading in a dynamic market place.

2) Financial Independence and Financial Freedom are not the same.
Growing old and retiring financially independent is a great position in life to be in. Being financially independent and with excess passive income to do whatever we want with our money is fantastic. To be able to trade the markets with excess money is Financial Freedom and we will grow wealth which become our grandchildren' inheritance.

To change a method there must be a reason.
BigE dropped 5EMA in Post#718
I am more aggressive now and noticed I was giving up some pips doing it that way so I changed to using the TDI candle #1 or 2 for entries.

What has changed between 2014 and 2020 when looking / comparing BigE's training chart's to the chart's you see now?

Am happy with the 10 pips everyday, so why repair what is not broken.
