200 for the main setting, 20 for the entry....although you can try different setting but that is what I use for cable pairs. Now the 20 is used as a warning of potential change in direction.....I do not use it to take trades like true cci traders who use such methods as hook from extreme, zero line bounce, zero line cross, etc. that was designed for futures traders. Laura's method does not need added analyses so best not to confuse my take on the cci.....best to you!

Two trades on the DOW from earlier today. The first one I exited after a long bearish bar. The second I exited when price closed below the 8 EMA channel. As you can see I like to use a trend line break for entry. Sure I could have gotten more points on each trade, but I am happy with a nice win on each one.

Hey dbsdsun. Just my thoughts.
Oops left it off the chart by but also you entered right on a nice round number 1.2700. That accompanied with the other areas of support would warn me off going short.

This is a sad story of the depression that can haunt a man.
Marcel was sick and tired of the world; of Covid 19, Brexit, Russian belligerence, global warming, racial tensions, yammering music in shops, and the rest of the junk that occupy media.
Marcel drove his car into his garage and selected his favourite radio station, then turned the volume just sufficiently to block out negative thoughts. He sat smiling until he drifted off to sleep.
Four days later, a worried neighbour peered through his garage window and saw him in the car. She notified the emergency services and they broke in to his garage. They had to cut the top off his car as the doors would not open and pulled Marcel from the car.
A little sip of water and, surprisingly, he was in perfect condition, but his top of the range Tesla had a dead battery.

Just want to thank you for such a painfully truthful but profound post. I've been contemplating on what you called "self image" a lot lately. It can be applied to all things in life actually. We all know someone who continues to pick one abusive partner after another. It's the same for trading too. We can blame the whole world for our misfortunes, but ultimately our adversaries are nothing but self fulfilled prophecies. This is perhaps one of the most important life lessons to be learned. Thank you once again for taking your time to share your journey and methods.

Must admit, I was nervous about posting the journal entry because, as you say, it strikes at profoundly personal things about a person. I fully expect some to read it and recoil against it, but that's okay. Some might also dismiss it as psychobabble, which is fine too. But hopefully it will help at least one person on the journey to consistent profitability.

What you did was admirable. I'd be terribly nervous too if I were you, but these are the things that really should be said more often but aren't. Maybe because they mostly fall on deaf ears. Will we ever realize that the one and only holy grail is none other than ourselves?

Excellent entry in your journal Laura, one that more or less gets completely overlooked with retail traders. And one that can take years to realise it. Most traders just dont get it, how hard can it be to stick to a successful strategy. Your totally going against human emotion within the subconscious mind. Which is why its incredibly difficult to go against what your subconscious is telling you to do, top stuff!

I have spent the last month almost solely learning about trading psychology. This is something I have always neglected. Which has led to pain and suffering. I guess I fall into the group of people who have to burn themselves over and over before realising there is another way to handle fire.
It has been a harsh lesson to learn, but also a liberating one.
We no longer need to look outside to find the answers to success. There are countless methods to make consistent money in this business.
None of them will work out for us if we cannot master our emotions first.

It's a sort of realisation similiar to this: Spending an hour looking for something, only to realise its in your hand...
This is the best way to describe the light bulb moment for me

I'm always thinking of how my journal can add extra value to this thread and, if anyone has a suggestion for potential topics, please do feel free to get in touch and I'll see if it's something I can write about.

I want to say thank you for the last post (as well as all the others) in the Journal.
I hear Mr. D's words over n over again---It's a Random Event, and I don't believe I ever understood that. I am studying his work now---A million "Thank You's"

Like Kyle said above burning ourselves repeatedly, and failing to do anything about it is Insane.

Repeating mistakes but expecting a different result

So cut the BS Ben, and let me find my subconscious mate, cos we gonna sit down an have a serious debate to find out how we can change a few things.

My biggest mistake was trying to win every trade, not understanding that a series of trades, with a tried and tested methodology will provide a fearless trading environment.

Now that's an achievable and desirable outcome.---(Laura can do it, so can you)
