The main entry rule is: green crossing red on the TDI within the first 2 candles for an entry...
- Rule say TDI green cross Red not 5EMA
I don't care what the red TDI line is doing.
- True, however TDI green need something to cross and it is not 5EMA
Did Stoch's confirm the TDI signal between the 20-80 lines...?
- Not possible for 5EMA to have 20-80 lines
The 12-2 and 4-6 is for the TDI and not the 5ema... that would just be a bonus...
- 5EMA confirm a strong trend now that is a added bonus
If you meet the TDI entry rule it doesn't much matter where the 5 ema is in relation to the 1st two candles...
- When TDI rule is met why bother to look at 5EMA?
All this extra crap does nothing but confuse other traders and their success rate drops and they can't figure out why...

that is LO1 H1 candle , entry 4 is the 30mins of the H1 and it is a M15 momentum candle, you wont know at that time if that is the H1 high until the next 30mins.

Honestly on the 5 method you don't really need any indicators because the simple entry rules are so basic and clear cut. If I were to pick two it would be the tdi & stochs.

I almost always have the tdi & stoch on all my charts regardless of the method being used.

However, it's not necessary on the 5 method for me. It gives people more confidence when they have it on their charts it seems.... and it's a good confirmation to the current PA and possible trade.

You can trade the 5 method without the TDI if it's a problem...

PA is HA Candles, PA crosses the yellow line and closes... enter on the next candle if it's the same color. When candles flatten out... exit. Stay in the trade as long as it doesn't cross back over the yellow line and close.

The TDI just gives me a lot more information for making my entries & exits decisions.

2scoops asked me a long time ago what would be the most beneficial to learning this method for higher success... The answer was simple... study old charts for set ups... now strip down everything on that chart at that point... trends, angles, S/R levels, News times, Stoch angle within the 20-80 lines..etc. Burn it into your memory... I spent 2 years doing that.... so what does that mean?

It takes me 15 seconds to strip a chart down to nothing including the TDI & Stoch's. Taking clean trades is a breeze for me... why?

But really, why would anyone that is serious about learning the 5-method as BigE presented it in this TMS thread even care about the ema5 when TDI is the heart of this system, and ema5 angle at MOST is BONUS information?

If someone finds BigE making extensive explanations about how the price plots the ema5 in THIS thread, then he is on some kind of fantasy trip or delusional mental state.

This is what BigE has posted concerning 5EMA.

At one time I used the 5ema in a different way.
Back then if a candle closed across the 5ema it was the set up candle.
I would enter the trade at the beginning of the next candle if it was the same color.... and that still works... this is more conservative...
I am more aggressive now and noticed I was giving up some pips doing it that way so I changed to using the TDI candle #1 or 2 for entries.
I left it on my chart because I like to see how PA interacts with the 5ema line during the trade.
Gives me a better feel for what's going on... that's mainly the reason...

Very interesting that Nat.fx finds the OPPOSITE of what BigE found concerning entries via ema5 versus entries via TDI.

Are you referring to Nat's: Sometimes price crossing the shifted 5 ema will translate as green crossing red on the TDI.

On the long-term(+10 years), any ma cross is almost useless, compared to all the other factors. Focusing on the PA and tdi behaviour alone makes this simple strat interesting, in my opinion.
If I don't mention SL and/or TP = longer-term setup possibly in the works!

you don't need indicators. Dudes -- I got news for you -- if you are looking at bars, then you are using an indicator. Bars are indicators. The real data is ticks from your broker. Bars (i.e. OHLC data) are simply a compressed form of tick data that MetaQuotes programmed into MetaTrader to help you better visualize tick data. They are no different than using indicators. Bars are simply software constructs that compress the real data (ticks). If you were trading on tick data, then I would be impressed -- but you aren't. So you are just fooling yourself.

Like other indicators, bars are used to help us visualize certain features of the raw data. To claim you are better at trading
because you use "PA" rather than RSI or MA or Stoch just proves even after all these years you are still clueless
about the underlying data.

Aiit. Big E enters if the next candle is the same colour

Emmanuel and I. I don't know about Emmanuel. But i enter on the next candle after the cross if the stochs is pointing in the direction of trade and if TDI angle is also pointing in direction of trade. If Stochs or TDI isn't pointing in direction of trade. I wait for next candle. If it is same colour (momentum) i enter. At this point TDI has crossed so I'm technically entering like i am entering with TDI cross.

Big E always waited for next candle. I don't. I look at TDI angle and stochs angle to show me momentum. If it doesn't i wait for next candle. If its not sane colour i skip the trade and the trade turns out not to go 5 pips before reversing (Tdi would cross at this point giving false signal)

Also sometimes TDI crosses 2 candles after price crosses 5 ema giving late entry exposing us to false signals.

5-method and TMS signals show together 80% of the time. 5-method just filters out TDI late entries. 5 method using price momentum, TDI and stochs angle gives more info about price momentum

IMO i prefer trading conservatively than trading aggressively and giving the market my money cos of late signals

This 5ema is shifted by a mile

Also observe the false signals the TDI was giving. So many pips given to the market
